Top 10 Scary Logos
Okay, I have to admit something, I like logos, I really do... in my heart at least. But then there are logos that are scary. Usually they're scary because they start a horror movie, but sometimes, there are scary logos that aren't even from a horror movie. Hell, even in our childhood, we find some logos scary. I find them scary when I was a kid, and I still find them scary as of the age of 17. Which is why I'm counting down 10 logos I find scary. Here we go.
LIST:
10. THX (1983-present)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oob01fKidCM
Okay, for starters, the deep note, as people like to call them, is creepy, since the note is is so damn loud. And the shiny logo doesn't even help. But I kept it low on the list because it's not as scary as the rest.
9. Walt Disney Classics (1988-1994)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiK5ajlGi2Y
Keep in mind I used the 1992 version of the logo since that one's the scariest out of all of the Walt Disney Classics logo bunch. I find this logo to be creepy for Disney standards, if not as scary, I mean we'll go over the scariest Disney logo as you read. Now, the jingle is nice, until 1992 when the people remixed, or just ruined the jingle and then made it distorted. I was afraid to watch a WDC movie after the logo.
8. Rankin Bass (1960s)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DHBJiAPrL4
Okay, I know this is an old logo, but people have been a little bit frightened by this logo. Even for the 1960s. I've seen worse, but we'll go on as you read. Okay, the jazzy like music is creepy and the primitive animation does not help.
7. DiC (1987-2001)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D71fh-tWXu4
Now, as a kids television logo, this was scary. If you don't know about this logo or if you forgot all about it, I'll tell you, the creepy jingle comes by with a kid sleeping, then as the camera zooms to the star, the badly animated star twinkles and turns into a ball and then some random kid (which I think it's the kid in bed) said, "Dic." Now I got scared just thinking about it, with the kid saying it out loud.
6. Paramount Home Video (1979-1981)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S95RtBE-iwM
So the logo is scary because it features a badly animated mountain rising with frightening synth music playing. Then the logo turned into a recycled version of the Paramo0unt Domestic Television logo from 1979. If you buy these tapes that were from 1979 through 1981, you will be scared shitless. But this isn't the only Paramount logo that's scary.
5. VID TV logo (1990-1999)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoWpErJVtGE
This is a logo that has I got frightened every goddamn time even though I don't live in Russia. This logo is the scariest international logo I've seen thanks to a line coming out of nowhere, a ball bouncing from the line and down to nowhere, then fades to an ugly stoned face. Now I can see the Russians being scared of the logo, even people who are American like me, or hell, even worldwide.
4. Screen Gems "S from Hell" logo (1965-1974)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6j8EhsJrIA
This needs no introduction. It's already scary. I mean Jesus, if you see this logo, you will be scared. I know some of you don't care, but to me, I was freaked out so hard and- well, nevermind, the logo is scary. Though I do like the Screen Gems logo as a film company where they use this logo but in a blue format, and in some cases red for some horror movies.
3. Viacom "V of Doom" logo (1976-1986)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10LDTLjEPDM
Again, the logo needs no introduction. Just watch and you'll see. Only the V of Steel can kick its ass.
2. Walt Disney Home Entertainment logo (1978-1986)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAlkPHb5mLo
That was a nightmare when it comes to Disney logos. A neon Mickey Mouse that rotates counterclockwise with colors changing in a black background while an unintentionally scary fanfare plays. Now THAT is just scary. I was scared when I was 11 and I went to the International Logo Jingle Collection back in 2005. But yeah, if you were a kid, that will scare the living shit out of you.
And now the SCARIEST logo of all time!
1. Paramount Home Video logo (1988-2006)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m08KC1rPvdE
Watching the Paramount Home Video logo back when I was little was a nightmare. In fact, this is the scariest logo period. I remember that I wouldn't buy or rent or even touch a Paramount VHS tape when I saw the logo when I was a baby. I was scared just thinking about it. It's where the Paramount on Parade fanfare plays with the primitive animation of the square of the Paramount logo moving, and the scary announcer saying, "And now we're pleased to bring you our feature presentation." Then, the FEATURE PRESENTATION logo is on the screen and it zooms in so fast cutting to the warning screen. This, my friends, was my childhood logo nightmare.
Anyway, if you're a logo fan on DVDizzy, let me know. If not, then okay.

This logo used to creep me out as a kid:

Some of the aforementioned logos aren't that scary at all, particularly the Neon Mickey logo. One YouTuber described it as "Screensaver Mickey".

Aw, ha, I have pleasant, nostalgic feelings about some of those, like the Disney and Rankin/Bass logos. I agree that the PBS logo is worse than any of those. The Neon Mickey though, I can understand. It's a little creepy because the Mickey looks like it's a silhouette of some big doll Mickey. I have mixed feelings about it. It's always been a little weird and creepy, but I have those good, Disney nostalgia feelings for it too.
That '79 Paramount is a bit creepy. I had never seen that before. Some are just weird, like the DIC one, ha.

I think I actually remember a logo that used to make me feel a little uncomfortable as a kid. I wouldn't say it used to scare me, but I used to find it sort of ominous. It's the old 1980s style United Artists logo. It used to turn up on a few VHSes.TheValentineBros wrote:I'm not afraid of all logos in general. I just thought the logos that I showed you are nightmares when I was little and when I saw them on YouTube. Just saying.

Well, this is my honorable mention because I was comfy with that logo, though yes, it was a little bit creepy at the same time.Julian Carter wrote:I think I actually remember a logo that used to make me feel a little uncomfortable as a kid. What a weird and bizzare thread. Who the fuck gets nightmares and scared over freakin logos? Never once even as a kid did logos and nightmare fuel would cross my mind.
Man, you guys need lay off on the drugs.

I feel like the reason these logos scared people is because when you are a kid you don't quite understand everything so anything ominous or dark or low-toned or with big staring eyes will make you feel a little frightened.
Or, you know, maybe Aspergers has something to do with some of it, your view of the world...even your view of logos.
Super Aurora, again, sensitivity is not your strong point.
