Statue/Figure Collection

Post by xxhplinkxx »

Hi all. I recently started collecting some comic book statues and was wondering if anyone here did as well? While I only just started I only have a few pieces, but I've seen some amazing collections out there. I'd love to see all of yours if you have any! I will say this: it's a very expensive hobby lol but they're so freaking cool! These are the ones I have:

Those obviously aren't actual pics of my pieces, but they are the same ones I have (in the first one I only have the Cyclops, not the Rogue ) I'll post some actual pics of mine over the weekend.

Next up I'm eyeing this lovely Jean Grey piece made by Bowen. Hopefully I'll be winning it in an eBay auction soon.

Image

So do any of you have collections like these? I'd love to see some pictures!

I also get them.

I have the Jean Grey one you're trying to get. Got it at NYC Comic Con.

These are the ones I have:

A few years back, I really cut down on my toy collecting and decided I wanted to change my collection to sculptures as much as possible, though I still collect some toys. I started selling and giving away some toy items as I replaced them with good sculptures. I haven't gotten to do that with any comic characters yet, except that I do own a Zatanna sculpture. It's in the style of Batman the Animated series/the Justice League though. I will likely choose animation-based or styled sculptures with all my superhero sculpture purchases in the future, as I am a bigger superhero fan through cartoons and movies than comics themselves. I might get some movie-based stuff too, maybe those big, pricey Hot Toys figures. Anyway, what I really want to get in the near future (besides certain Walt Disney Classic Collection and Electric Tiki sculptures), is this pair of Superman and Lois sculptures in the Fleischer cartoon shorts style. I'd like to pick a Batman with a similar style too. I know there was a series of black and white Batman sculptures in different styles. I might choose one of those; maybe the original Batman styled one, or maybe one that looks more like an animated character. I kinda want it to match Superman in the idea of looking 1930's/40's ish, more than anything.

Image

This is the one I have. I badly want the matching Batgirl and Supergirl. Wouldn't mind the matching villainesses either.

nice!. i'd love get that Zatanna one too. The Supergirl one... do you mean this one?

Image

I'd love that one too. I have seen it before at a comic store but i didn't have the money at the time and it was brought by someone later on. Missed my chance.

Super Aurora, that Jean and Emma are the Kotobukiya's, no? I love the look and style of them, they're just really tiny from what I've seen from size comparison lol. They also make a nice Phoenix/Dark Phoenix set.

Also, how much did you pay for the Jean Grey that I'm looking to get? Cause there's an offer on eBay right now for $250 with free shipping. It sounds just a bit more steep than I'd like to pay, but it is a piece from 2009 and is sold out so I expect it won't be too easy to come by anymore.

Yeah those two are from the Bishoujo line that is designed by Shunya Yamashita. They're not THAT small actually.

I paid $175 for mine's when I went to Comic Con.. It's a well made figure and my favorite. I love 90's Jean Grey. Also big influence in design to one of my own personal characters (see my art thread for pics and about it)

I like those Bishoujo style ones too. Wouldn't mind getting some myself!

So far, most of what I have is WDCC stuff, but here are the Superman and Lois I want:

Image

Image

I couldn't get the image you posted to work, Super Aurora, but here are the matching Supergirl and Batgirl I want:

Image

Image

There's also a Harley, an Ivy, and a Catwoman, but for some reason I think the Ivy is a bit too large in scale to the others. Funnily enough, one of my best friends has that whole set of DC girls EXCEPT Zatanna, ha. I got her off Ebay, which I think is where I've gotten almost all my sculptures so far, with just a few exceptions (like one WDCC I got from DisneyMovieRewards).

I really love Supergirl and Batgirl, so there are a few other statues of them I'd really love to get, but there are so many characters I want representations of that I will be happy even if I only get those two above.

Here's the Rocketeer statue I want, one of many Electric Tiki statues I'm dying to get. They have started a whole line of "animated ladies" sculptures that are priority for me though, or will be when I can finally afford to get one, ha.

Image

To match that Superman when I get it, I want one of these Batman statues:

Image

Image

Image

Not sure which I want yet, and I may have seen some other possibilities too. Or maybe I'll just go with a Bruce Timm one. Any thoughts?

Nope, yours still appears as a broken link for me too. Weird, ha. Anyways, the one I am talking about is like the Batgirl, if you can see that one, except it's Supergirl flying above the Daily Planet globe, in the Superman the Animated Series style.

Yes they are! They also have Buffy, Willow, and Spike in the line so far. Willow wasn't really anything special, and I'm not a big Spike fan. I liked Buffy's even though it didn't look close enough to Sarah Michelle Gellar for me, however it sold out like a year ago and are going for like $600 on eBay :( if it was more affordable I'd definitely get Buffy as well, though. I hope they do a Cordelia one, too!

Yes, I did! lol thanks for the reply. Yeah, you definitely paid a lot less for Jean than I might have to; lucky you. As for the Bishoujo (sp?) piece, they do look nice. I saw this video review and it definitely made me like it more, despite not being as big as the Bowen piece. I might get it, along with the Bishoujo Phoenix, for $100 for both of them off Amazon. But they might have to wait since I have other piece I want more right now (and would rather put the money towards )

Those ARE sweet Buffy statues. As a guy with a weakness for animated girls and knowing that the likeness quality on sculptures and toys is unpredictable, I went with the tooned up style. This is the one I have from Electric Tiki. It's my first serious Electric Tiki piece, though I have two small pieces from them (a black and white Better boop and a Mr. Magoo). They have other Buffy characters too, and they're pretty cool, but I would probably only buy another if they made a Dawn one. Though, I'd love to get the first Buffy they made. This is actually the second one. The first one had her hair down and a different outfit/pose (well, it was a different statue).

Yeah, I saw the other ET Buffy pieces. Liked the Faith one. They're also doing an Ariel one that I absolutely love!

Image

But a few other things are higher on my priority list lol.

And just in case anyone wants to see the Buffy piece from the line I posted earlier here it is. You can also see Willow in the back.

Image

I like the piece... something just doesn't sit right with me about Buffy, though. I think it's the hair. Thoughts?

Yeah, that Ariel is from their Animated Ladies line! They have been doing Don Bluth girls as well (Princess Daphne and the girl from Space Ace, whose name I forget), and they did TinkerBell and Minnie Mouse for the line too. I was a bit disappointed in the Tink one, but I want it anyway because they all have matching bases and Ariel and Tink (along with Rapunzel) are my favorite Disney girls. I think the other one they made so far is Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. I could pass on Sally and Minnie, but I wouldn't MIND getting them if I had the others, just to have the whole set. But, they have many other sculptures I want. There are variations of the Fred Moore girl sketch (redhead version, blonde version, and black haired version), and it would be a dream come true to get all three of those, ha, though the redhead is super rare. I want their Jessica Rabbit sculptures too (and Roger, among others), and I badly want their Disney Afternoon sculptures. And they have a TRON and a Dick Tracy! I wish they'd do a Toon'ed Up Barnabas Collins and a Toon'ed Up Kolchak!

Oh, and I love the outfit and pose on that Willow statue. I am not crazy about the likeness though, and it's not a fave character of mine anyway. Buffy could have been a prettier version too. They did a great job on Faith though, even though I'm not a big fan of hers. For me it's all about Gellar and Trachtenberg. I had a friend who would LOVE those. He had several of the first Buffy statues.
