The Disney Cosplay Thread

Post by Mooky »

For those who don't know, "cosplay, short for "costume play", is a type of performance art in which participants don costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea. Characters are often drawn from popular fiction in Japan, but recent trends have included American cartoons and science fiction. Favorite sources include manga, anime, tokusatsu, comic books, graphic novels, video games, hentai and fantasy movies. Any entity from the real or virtual world that lends itself to dramatic interpretation may be taken up as a subject. Inanimate objects are given anthropomorphic forms and it is not unusual to see genders switched, with women playing male roles and vice versa."

*cited from Wikipedia*

So to cut a long story short - if you're into Disney cosplay or you just stumbled upon a nice image of a Disney cosplayer, post your pics here. Have fun!

The ones you've posted are great. But I'm not really a fan of cosplay in general, basically since those who do it seem to have a stick up their butt about "it's not dressing up, it's cosplaying." It's meant to be fun, and so many people are like super overly serious about it.

I've never done Cosplay myself unless you would count Halloween, but I could spend (and probably have) hours looking at cosplay images on deviantart.com. If I had a more cosplay friendly physique (maybe someday...) and was somewhat younger (or at least had friends into it as well so I didn't look crazy to be doing it at my age, since most cosplayers seem to be in their teens or twenty-somethings), I could really get into it myself. I think dating a good cosplayer (good meaning someone who actually makes good cosplay and fits the roles they choose) would be a total dream come true, and if I'm jealous of any guys, it's the ones who date those many cosplaying girls who are really amazing... I suppose if I have any kind of fetish, it's for costumes, especially of cartoon characters, ha. Anyway, I digress. Those images posted at the beginning of the thread are really great ones! Maybe I will post some I have come across too, when I have more time.

One cosplayer from DeviantArt does a particularly great job as Ariel.

...mostly because unlike many Ariel costumes, her hair is a close match to the character.

Those are great! You should post links to their deviantart images or galleries though, so we fellow deviants can follow them there!

Here's the one Semaj posted: http://arielvandekamp.deviantart.com/ :)

I'd never heard of cosplaying until the mid-late 90's but the little girl in me wanted to play "dress-up" of my favorite characters long before that. :p I'd never take it nearly as seriously as the hardcore cosplayers do though, and unfortunately for me, I've never had the figure for it.

did you say some time before that you use to have a good figure back then but then gain weight years later on?

I've struggled with my weight ever since I was 12. Right now I'm actually smaller than I was in high school, but would like to lose quite a bit more.

Once in a while, I'll take a look in my ridiculously extensive D.A. favorites and pull some I really like to post here. Tricky sometimes to weed out ones of park cast members though. I nearly posted a park TinkerBell I really liked here. Anyway, here is a D.A. Rapunzel I truly adore! She makes both hairstyles work too, and she is an absolute angel as Rapunzel!

This is her DA page, but I unfortunately can't find her cosplay in her gallery anymore (yet I found these pics above again by searching Rapunzel cosplay). http://cloudninja9.deviantart.com/

those ones are well known on the net. I believe they're Brianna's friends or something.

But something's off. Those don't look like the all the same girls, just the same costumes. Cinderella's doesn't look the same. Is it a bad picture?

I dunno, the whole attempt to turn Ariel's tail into a sexy garter thingamabob always weirded me out. Still cool to see the princesses hanging out with Elvira though. ;)

Those two are still in her gallery:

. . . but they do seem to be the only cosplay pics she's posted there.
