I normally do buy CDs, but for some artists, I will buy their singles on iTunes.
The most recent example of a song I bought from iTunes is Demi Lovato's new single, "Heart Attack". As far as I'm concerned, she has the best voice in pop, and I greatly admire her message. This new single of hers is in some ways a spiritual successor to her recent smash "Give Your Heart a Break", but more of an opposite piece than a follow-up- in GYHAB, Demi played the meditator in a haphazard relationship, the one who tries with an unsure partner but eventually realizes that they're better off apart. In "Heart Attack", she is the one afraid to commit, but soon gives in.
Both are relatable subject material, and in here, Lovato's ideals of love and how frightening it can be sounds considerably sleeker and more mature than Taylor Swift's usual material does. The lyrics are backed up by an eclectic mix of musical styles, combining delectable dance beats, a catchy guitar hook, and Lovato's high-reaching vocal prowess.
So yeah, "Heart Attack" gets a thumbs up for me. If you like "Give Your Heart a Break" or any of her other material, you should definitely check this out. I'm going to see her live on Saturday for the first time, and if what I've seen online is any indication, Demi's voice is sincere and not at all materialized. I'll have to come back to you to confirm this, but from where I stand, I recommend her work for fans of good pop.
