Ok everyone, I need your help. I'm putting together a list of "Most Desired Unreleased Disney Titles" to put up on the Open Vault Disney web site. I feel good putting this here in the DMC section becuase 1.) the folks who visit this section are most likely to really be passionate about this outside of the release of maybe Disney Afternoon cartoons, and 2.) my Disney contact has told me in the past that from here on out, any and all vintage, obscure Disney titles will be released either via the Disney DVD-on-Demand program ("Generations Collection") or via the DMC Exclusives. So, that would mean any titles listed here (outside of maybe some Disney Channel or Disney Afternoon titles) would most likely only have a shot at a release if it is from one of these two sources.

So, please, take a moment to list titles not yet released that you really want to see released. Our list will be updated about every month or two to reflect titles with the most votes. And yes, it does matter. Disney Home Entertainment is aware of Open Vault Disney and does peek in on us from time to time to see what our members have to say. So this list is in fact a big deal. You'll be happy to know that I already got your list and merlinjones' list a few months back when Facebook still had discussion boards and we just had the members lists there what they wanted. Being as you two didn't have FB, I shared your lists on there for you. However, since FB got rid of discussion boards, that in pat is why we felt the time has come to list this up on our site.

I compared your original list and I'm rather sure it is identical, so your vote has been counted. If you have any other titles you want to see, please feel free to share right here! I'll be watching.

I've had a hard time finding OVD members interested in titles older then the 1980's, but I just know there are thriving fan base out there for the Walt-era titles. So no, I won't give up on them and will do the best I can to make sure Disney doesn't as well.

Also, I really should have mentioned this (except I think it was shared on these forums already), but "A Light in the Forest" and "Justin Morgan had a Horse" are both on DVD via the Disney Ed. Productions. While normally about $30 each, DEP is having a sale this month and you can get them and other single disc DVD's for $14.99, which is more reasonable. Till these titles get a proper retail release, this is something to think about!

Funny you mentioned that. I actually just got a message not too long ago from a son of one of the writers asking for this film. I think it is still in Disney's control, either way, it has been passed on to who it needs to be passed onto.




Isn't that the film that "Jungle2Jungle" is based on? Interesting that it hasn't gotten a DVD release yet. I'll see what I can do.

tiger town was never released on dvd. it was suppose to back on september 7th, 2004 but disney cancelled its release, just like dr.syn alias the scarecrow was to be released on august 3rd, 2004 but that got cancelled as well and got released on november 11, 2008 as a treasure release. if you look at the amazon posting very closely you will see it was never released. yes granted the cover art is up and all but if you call amazon up they will also tell you that disney never released tiger town to dvd ever!!! walt disney company even said the same thing as well.

You might also suggest they package the Ludwig animated TV episodes, Ranger shows, Swamp Fox, MMC serials, etc. in box sets or at least multi-episode discs (maybe we could get more at a time that way).

Really? Do you know what happen? Being honest, I had never even heard of the title before you mentioned it, so I'm of course up to learning about new titles I didn't know about. It's kind of become my job.

It's on my list by the way and I will be sharing it with those who need to have it shared with.





From what I hear (and I think it is ok to say this), multi-disc sets have been talked about for the MOD program. No idea if they will actually do it or not. And of course they have done that already with the DMC. My hope is that they stick with that idea as I think it makes sense. I'll pass it along to those who need to know.

milojthatch: I second all that merlinjones listed, plus I'd like to see all the live action Wonderful World of Color shows and Wonderful World of Disney shows that have not been issued on DVD yet, finally issued. Of course, most have never been seen, much less put on VHS or DVD, except on the Disney Channel in the 80s and 90s. There are too many to name but a few nature oriented ones are Chico the Misunderstood Coyote, The Silver Fox and Sam Davenport, The Wetback Hound, Bristle Face, The Hound Who Thought he was a Raccoon, Greta the Misfit Greyhound, Little Shepherd Dog of Catalina, Brimstone the Amish Horse, and Go West Young Dog. Disney needs to add back in Walt's introductions and closing comments to them before they are issued, as they stripped out Walt's parts from many of them when they aired on the Disney Channel. Asking Disney to issue their anthology episodes in season sets is apparently too much but any way they can issue them is good.

Also, I wish Disney would issue the multi-part episodes that ended up being edited into movies and issued that way on VHS and DVD. I want to get these episodes as they were originally broadcast, with Walt's introductions and closing comments. Critical ones for me are Johnny Shiloh, Willie and the Yank, Toby Tyler, and the Mooncussers.

I must reiterate, Gargoyles: The Complete Second Season, Vol. 2 (I feel like Jonny Modlin)!

All of the amazon "Disney On Demand" Generations Collection titles are taken from VHS masters. There are many titles that people are asking for that were NEVER released on VHS, Laserdisc, or DVD in any country and most likely Disney will not be releasing them through this line. Therefore, I humbly suggest the following titles which have had VHS or DVD releases somewhere at sometime, and so a master is already at Disney and easy for pressing these "on-demand" discs.

1.Daniel Boone (the complete 4 episode run): There were 4 episodes produced starring Dewey Martin and Kevin Corcoran for the 1960 season of the anthology series. "The Warrior's Path", "And Chase the Buffalo", "The Wilderness Road", and "The Promised Land" were released on individual VHS cassettes in the 1990s with Walt Intros intact! They would make for a great series to collect for fans and they are wonderful films for people studying the Disney film history.

2.Mr Boogedy: A 1 hour "Disney Sunday Movie" film airing in 1986. This film was released on VHS in Australia in the 1980s (which was the same source as "Fuzzbucket"). Also, there was a 90 minute sequel made the following year called "Bride of Boogedy" which was released on VHS in the United Kingdom in the 1980s as well. Neither of these VHS have the Michael Eisner intros, but I think most fans of these films wouldn't be looking for those anyway. It would, again, make for a series of films already mastered that fans could collect.

3.The Magnificent Rebel: This beautiful and well produced film was made for the early seasons of The Wonderful World of Color. It was remastered and released on DVD in Australia, and would be a step up in quality for films released in the "On-Demand" line of Disney titles. This biopic of Beethoven would appeal to fans of the film, fans of vintage Disney, history buffs, and music aficionados to name a few.

4.Various 1 Hour anthology episodes already released on VHS in the U.S. Several of these titles would certainly sell well as their VHS counterpart will go for hundreds of dollars online for used copies:

"It's Kind Of Fun To Do The Impossible"

The DMC Exclusive releases, unlike the Disney Generations Collection, are not relegated to the VHS masters already prepared 30 years ago. Films like the 3 part series "Atta Girl Kelly" with Walt Intros Intact, "The Boy Who Flew With Condors", and "Stub, the Best Cowdog in the West" are an example.

Not to mention the remastered widescreen prints of "Scandalous John" and "Smith!" to say the least.

That being said, there are plenty of titles they HAVE released that are simply a rehash of the 1980s VHS master. "Johnny Shiloh", or "Charley and the Angel" for example. However, these historic productions ever have a chance at proper presentation, it will be through the Disney Movie Club Exclusives line.

I therefore suggest the following titles be released through the DMC Exclusive Line (EVEN THOUGH SOME OF THESE MAY HAVE A VHS MASTER FROM A 1980s RELEASE for the shear fact that the people who would want these movies would want to buy the film remastered and with the Walt intros):

Ballerina - 2 parts with Walt intros

Again, this list is not meant to be complete, but perhaps to offer suggestion for those at Disney making some decisions to spend a bit more time with care on these titles as the niche consumer who would pay out the wazoo for these titles will only do so with great happiness and rapidity when they are assured that the films are restored and presented intact the way it was originally shown on television.
