Check your PMs.

They're all over youtube, so I don't think there's any problem with sharing them.

James Monroe Iglehart (Genie) interviews director Casey Nicholaw and reveals some interesting changes, the biggest being that Iago is not a parrot in this production!

Iago NOT a parrot?! Hm, I don't like that. But I hope the show will be a great success, so that it will go to Broadway and so that Disney may produce a cast recording.
Favorite Disney-movies: Snow White, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, Tarzan, Tangled, Frozen, Pirates, Enchanted, Prince of Persia, Tron, Oz The Great and Powerful

I'm actually relieved that they are not putting a guy in a parrot outfit or repeating the Zazu puppet thing from Lion King. I love that this is based on the Howard Ashman concept more than the actual film that was released. It kind of gives them free range to discard stuff from the film that will obviously not work on stage. I don't care what they change, as long as it's a good show on it's own. The problem with The Little Mermaid, was how much the changes dumbed down the story from the film. Had they been good changes I would have been fine.

I agree. All these changes are for the better and they appear to be in line with Howard Ashman's original version. It's sad that this might not be on Broadway while it's ultimately better than The Little Mermaid and Tarzan.

James Monroe Iglehart discusses what it was like getting the role of Genie and making the role his own.

And I've still got my fingers crossed for Broadway. From Casey Nicholaw's comment in that Seattle Times article it sounds like things have gone from "no, we're doing this to license it out" to "we're going to wait and see how well it does", so things could turn out ok if we're lucky.

I'm really excited to see what changes happen! I think the storyline with Aladdin and his mother is really beautiful, I hope that is part of the show.

Proud of Your Boy is confirmed to be in the show, but there's been nothing said about the character of his mother, so I think she's already passed away (we'll know for sure later tonight/tomorrow morning).

Been crazy busy the last day or two, so here's a few links I've not posted here yet!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a93MbedQAJE - James Monroe Iglehart talks Genie at the Spotlight Night

http://www.q13fox.com/news/mornings_with_kaci/ - 3 more short videos including another interview with James and one with Chad, as well as people from 5th Avenue

http://www.seattleweekly.com/2011-07-06 ... long-haul/ - an interview with Jonathan Freeman (check out the turban on his dressing table!)

Tonight I'm going to watch Aladdin (naturally), get an early night and get up around 6am (11pm Seattle time) so I can hopefully get some news to post on the blog before work!

Not that I know of, but I'm sure someone will get it up on youtube and I know it can be downloaded from there.

Sitzprobe preview of Arabian Nights and another interview with JMI (who seems to be the unofficial spokesgenie for this production!)

Sounds like the first preview was spectacular!!

This is what I found online:

Song List:

ACT 1
Overture
Arabian Nights
Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim
One Jump Ahead
One Jump Ahead (reprise)
Proud of Your Boy
Arabian Nights (reprise 1)
Call Me A Princess
Call Me A Princess (reprise)
Why Me
A Million Miles Away
Arabian Nights (Reprise 2)
Friend Like Me
Arabian Nights (Reprise 3)
Act 1 Finale*

*A bit of Friend Like Me when he is transformed into a Prince then a reprise of Proud of Your Boy.

ACT 2
Prince Ali
A Whole New World
High Adventure
Somebody's Got Your Back
Wedding Day Suite*
Finale Ultimo**

*A bit of everything really. This is where a few reprises of "Prince Ali" came in sung by Jafar like in the movie, but extended. And Jonathan Freeman was totally manic while singing, he was awesome.

**A Bit of Somebody's Got Your Back, Arabian Nights, A Whole New World from what I remember.

Where did you find that?! That's amazing :D

A bit disappointed that Humiliate the Boy didn't make the cut (unless parts are used in the Wedding suite), and amazed at how short Act 2 seems when compared to Act 1, but there's a lot of reprises so it probably balances out.

Very surprised To Be Free didn't make the cut, but it sounds great overall. Fingers crossed they change their minds and do a CD!!!
