On Tuesday I was visiting my cousin's house. He has a 10 year old son and a 13 year old daughter. Not surprisingly, they were watching Glee when an ad for Tangled came up. The 10 year old boy started gushing about how excited he was about the movie, and how he and all his friends wanted to see it together on the weekend and how much he loved the trailer. I told him I saw it already and he asked me for a review. Being me, I told him every good detail about the movie. He listened-untill I told him it was a musical. He was lke

and said, "Really? Are you sure?" I told him I was honest and he shouted, "NO. You're not! I've seen the trailer!" He honestly believed that the trailers were true. I showed him some samples of the music (ITunes on my IPhone) and he was shocked. He told me he hated musicals (his sister was watching Glee, not him) and thought it would be a comedy like Shrek (which he loved.) I tried to convince him it was an amazing film but refused to listen. He said he didn't want to see the movie anymore. I noticed 2 odd things:
#1. He loved the trailer and all his friends did too (maybe Disney DID make a right choice about catering to boys-DID I JUST SAY THAT?)
#2. I just took dozens of dollars away from Disney. I knew he would tell everyone what I told him and we've got to face it. Disney Princess Musicals aren't appealing to 10 year old boys.
