I'm 'sort of' looking forward to this. I actually enjoyed the second film almost as much as the first but the third just fell really flat for me, with pretty much every scene three times longer than it needed to be, although I did like the way they ended the story. Rather brave I thought. I've got a feeling this will be more like the first two films in tone.

Obviously, I'm excited for this film, but I'm also a bit worried. I really do not like the idea of Jack having a love interest, it goes against his entire character. But I can't complain, because at least we're getting more Jack! :P

I agree with. I'm being optimistic though as I loved the first three so I hope this one is equally as good.

I also can't wait for that movie to come out. And I hope it doesn't become dumb like the last PoTC movie, At World's End. Sorry, but I didn't like it, however, I didn't hate it.

Hmm. I really liked At World's End. I think that Dead Mans Chest is the weakest of them all, but Jack's death and the ending are epic.

Disney hires new marketing guru for 'Pirates 4'
http://www.laughingplace.com/Latest-ID-75390.asp

Okay, my train of thought is, Wouldn't POTC4 do well even with bad marketing? Isn't it the underdog movies that need the good marketing?

Indeed. Though, a new marketing guru would be nice on Disney's animated films as well. Because Tangled's marketing campaign has been really sucky so far.

I'd like to see a few more references to the ride then there've been in the last two sequels. At World's End had some pretty good ones. Dead Man's Chest had almost none, besides COTBP deleted scenes and the bayou (which was amazing). There are so many great scenes and moments from the ride that could easily fit the stories or atmosphere.

That brings me to another thing I'd like to see in this one- amazing atmosphere. The first film has so many great locations: Isla De Muerta, Tortuga, and so much of beatiful Port royal. DMC's only mesmorizing set was the bayou/Tia Dalma's shack, and AWE had Singapore. I'd just love if this movie carried the same atmosphere of the ride.

Characters, story and dialogue first, of course. :) I'm excited for this film.
:ears: I heart Disneyland :ears:

Well, with the exception of the bride auction(maybe Sparrow buys Penelope Cruz!) I honestly don't know how much more they can incorporate from the ride to the movies.

The film with the most praise was the one with the least obvious connections to the ride(COTBP), and as much as I hate to admit it, some of the connections(especially the dog with the keys) started to get rather stale in the sequels.

^Thanks for posting all of these links, Amy. I really appreciate it. :)

Anyway, I found a blog with a bunch of photos of the set.

Well....that's dissapointing and enraging at the same time

This looked like it could have had the same success and the A-List of a good original game such as Star Wars Force Unleashed series and Batman Arkham....such a shame...

What, they just found out Richards was (and probably still is) a drug user?

Didn't he fall out of a palm tree prior to shooting the previous Pirates film? The guy is a junk. Always was and always will be.
