From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 26th at D Street in Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort, the store will be hosting an art exhibit of new posters that I think are pretty cool (I’m particularly fond of the Evil Queen poster).

The best part about the art show is that it will have something for everyone – you’re sure to find something that’s right up your alley. As if seeing some of this great art wasn’t enough… Disney Underground artist Steven Daily has just signed on to do a special demonstration starting at 5 pm. For more information visit this link [ http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/blog/2 ... n-anaheim/ ]and/or www.DisneyDStreet.com.

Did you know there’s a Disneyland Alumni Club? Anyone who is or has ever been a cast member is eligible to join in on the fun:

Every five years the Disneyland Alumni Club recognizes a Disneyland milestone anniversary with a gala reunion paying tribute to the men and women who made magic for countless guests over the years at “The Happiest Place on Earth”. It’s a perfect time for reconnecting with old friends, meeting new ones, reminiscing, and making memories come to life. Happening Saturday, July 17, 2010, the Disneyland Alumni Club celebrates 55 magical years! To celebrate Walt’s great dream, the Disneyland Alumni Club invites you, your family, and your guests to attend their gala celebration, “55 Years of Music Magic!” in the Grand Ballroom of the Disneyland Hotel.

Joining us that night will be Disney Legend Richard Sherman of the Sherman Brothers songwriting duo; the JK Jazz Band; the popular Nocturnes surf band; Disney Legend Ron Logan, former executive vice president and executive producer for Walt Disney Entertainment, original Mouseketeers Tommy Cole and Sherry Albaroni—and that’s just for starters. Leading off the festivities will be Disney Legend Ron Dominguez, whose family actually owned the land on which Disneyland was built. Add Roy P. Disney; Disneyland veteran Coke Corner pianist Rod Miller; the Dapper Dans barbershop quartet; Billy Hill and the Hillbillies; Disney Legend and Imagineer X. Atencio, who wrote the songs for the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean; Don Dorsey who helped bring the fabled Main Street Electrical Parade to life, and the excitement just keeps growing.

For information about purchasing tickets ($95 per person — which includes dinner, parking, and entertainment, with the profit portion of the ticket donated to CHOC) visit: http://disneyland55.eventbrite.com/ If you need more information about the event call Jill Fletcher at: (775) 835-3431 or email her at: [email protected].

By the by... I've heard the new Fairy Tale (formerly "Honeymoon") Suite and the Big Thunder Suite are now available. I've been told that the two-bedroom BTS is going for upwards of $3,800 per night. A cool feature for the BTS suite? The doorbell rings with the sound of the train and the howl of coyotes.

Editor's Note 7/21: The rumors are true, and Alice in Wonderland has been shut down by Cal/OSHA. They

finally called the park's bluff of working with Imagineering for years now to retrofit a hand railing system on to

the outdoor vine portion of the track. None of the previous design proposals were liked by either the Imagineers or

Disneyland's operations groups, in a joint attempt to try and maintain the aesthetics of this unique indoor/outdoor

dark ride and Disneyland exclusive from 1958. But Cal/OSHA has no use for aesthetics or history, and they finally

got tired of waiting for the park to do something about this blatant code violation. The ride has been shut down

indefinitely while TDA scrambles to approve a plan to retrofit handrails on to the exterior ride track, and this

unplanned closure will likely be measured in months.

New “Soundsational” daytime parade headed for Disneyland in 2011 to include Tangled’s Rapunzel, live musicians

http://www.insidethemagic.net/2010/07/n ... d-in-2011/

A Disney Princess float will also be part of the new parade and will include Rapunzel from Disney’s upcoming film Tangled, along with a representation of her tower home.

“Mickey’s Soundsational Parade” is described as having “thrilling rhythms and bold percussion that will bring to life some of the most beloved melodies from Disney films.” Live musicians will be featured and watching crowds will be invited to join in and dance with the characters.

From Left to Right - The Princess and The Frog , The 3 Caballeros, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Mickey and Friends, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Peter Pan & Fairies

Ah-ha-ha! I thought that was Mary Poppins!

I think that parade sounds really cool. The concept art certainly looks neat. I do find it funny that pretty much all of the representations of the characters are from clipart.

That sounds really, really, really awesome! Why didn't they show Rapunzel's float, though? And yay for TP&tF AND Aladdin being included! I'm not surprised by TLM, although I am excited! And  @ The 3 Caballeros! And Mickey and Friends! I'm confused- the last float in the back row looks like princesses...but they're not mentioned. And see Disney- you don't have to separate Peter Pan and the Fairies!
