I've finished my Sleeping Beauty banner last week.
Unfortunately the picture of Malificent is so small that you cannot see her face, but click the link below my siggy and you'll get a -bit- better view!

Thanks guys. I wish the cookies were real, I was hungry the whole time I was working on them! I actually drew just one of them and staggered a few clones on a photo of a real pan for the banner. This is what it looks like up close on a different view of the pan:
I'm still hungry.
pap, it's been a while now. I'm sure you remember that whole Tiana art theft fiasco over at dA you helped me out with? After the second time that same girl traced my work and claimed it as her own, I figured it was just a matter of reporting it again. Wrong. So here's a brief review to those not in the know: since the moderators decided to flip sides on the issue, allow the theft, and completely ignore my inquiries, I stated in my journal that I wasn't eager to renew my subscription or even post further work on their site. I figure any business shouldn't be flip-flopping over their interpretation of their rules nor should they be giving such bad customer service. And if they're actually allowing one member to post stolen art from another member, well, that's just not good business on their part for any of us.
So this one user I'd never seen before shows up, tells me I'm over-rated and should be grateful for all the pageviews I got but didn't deserve, that my art was too lousy and cookie-cutter to allow me any entitlement over art theft anyway, and that I had no right to complain about what had happened. He got progressively rude to others within the comments, so I blocked him. Then he created another account specifically to circumvent my block so he could post even more rude comments! Ah, what fun we have.
So yeah, somewhere along all this I'd gotten this image planted in the back of my head; there's nothing like making lemonade out of lemons, or rather, cookies out of cookie cutters?

They look delicious, Enigmawing!
(Oh, and I don't think that Pru's is the Duke and an Ugly Stepsister. I mean, it is the Grand Duke, but I'm pretty sure that the woman is some character from a DTV.)

The other character is Pru! Her name is Prudence, and she's sort of Cinderella's lady-in-waiting in Cinderella II: Dreams Come True.Margos wrote:They look delicious, Enigmawing!

Thanks so much everyone, glad you like. I'm dying to make some real ones now.
See, the thing is that many members agree deviantArt has just gotten way too big. It's pretty obvious some of the staff members have begun to use impersonal mouse clicks to handle any questionable situation as a quick cure-all. One of my friends got suspended for reporting spam that appeared on his page. Seriously, that's all he did . . . "spam" was the only word of explanation given in the form-letter letter that came with the punishment. Since they obviously suspended him instead of the actual spammer by mistake, he notified them of it. Making a mistake is understandable of course, but he was never given any kind of response over it. No apology or even so much as an explanation when it was finally taken care of.
Crazy.
While I'm flattered you'd consider me popular, there a lot of bigger artists within the community that humble me. In the end popularity shouldn't matter anyway; all members should be treated the same. The only way I can really protest what I see happening is to choose not to pay for a premium subscription (regular membership is free and is what I currently have). Whether or not I'll post art there again remains to be seen, but come to think of it I'll probably cave in and go back. Despite the issues with the staff, there are still a lot of great members within the community.ajmrowland wrote:Oh, wow.
You'd think they'd be willing to help you, considering they're so popular.
