Animated Classics SURVIVOR - Round 12

Post by AwallaceUNC »

Last time we had a very, very close round... the votes were split between 3 different movies, with nearly half going to one of those three. Also, we voted off the first 'Platinum Edition' film last round! So far, the films voted off are..
Round 1 - The Three Cabelleros, The Aristocats, Oliver & Company, The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad
Round 2 - Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Saludos Amigos, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Treasure Planet
Round 3 - Make Mine Music, The Black Cauldron, The Great Mouse Detective, Hercules
Round 4 - Melody Time, The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh, The Sword In The Stone, The Rescuers Down Under
Round 5 - Fun & Fancy Free, Robin Hood*
Round 6 - The Rescuers, The Fox and the Hound
Round 7 - Fantasia 2000, Mulan
Round 8 - Dumbo, Pocahontas
Round 9 - The Emperor's New Groove, Lilo & Stitch
Round 10 - Brother Bear, Fantasia
Round 11 - Tarzan, Bambi

Recap:

It works just like the Survivor TV show. Basically, come on here once every 2 days (we've shortened it from 3 days to 2 based on the first four rounds) and vote for the Disney Animated Classic (see the list http://www.ultimatedisney.com/ultimateclassics.htm ) that you want to vote off, i.e., the one that you like the least! At the end of the 2 days, I'll come on here and announce who got voted off, and a new thread will start for the 13th round. This gets to be a lot of fun, especially when it gets down to the wire.

The TWO movies that receive the most votes will be kicked off each week, UNTIL we are down to the final 11 and 5, then it will change up some!

Just to reiterate: Every 2 days, 2 movies will go off now. Got it? Good.

So, Survivors ready?? Come on in and vote off ONLY ONE of these remaining movies:

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Pinocchio
Cinderella
Alice in Wonderland
Peter Pan
Lady and the Tramp
Sleeping Beauty
101 Dalmatians
The Jungle Book
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Lion King

Reminder: Please post your vote alone in bold, as this makes it easier for me.

Voting ends at midnight (EASTERN TIME) on Friday, April 23rd.

This will be the last round in which 2 movies are voted off at a time.

*Round 5 marked the transition from voting off 4 movies per every 3 days to voting off 2 movies per every 2 days.

For the first time in a while, I was very pleased with BOTH picks for the movies that left last round at that stage in the game.

EDITED for a 2nd time to delete my 2nd vote, and replace it with my original vote.

I was voting for 101 Dalmations in hopes that it and another film could accumulate enough to save Alice... doesn't look like that will happen, unless a TON of new members come in during the next 2 hours. Oh well... I'll vote for what I originally voted for, Peter Pan in good conscience, since it's the one I most want to leave, all strategies aside. :)

OK fans of the classic Walt Era movies are going to have to form a tribe to make sure one of those movies wins. We are obviously going to need some strategy here.

Do we need to PM each other to get after the youngsters and figure out which movie to attack first?

Homer: Marge, I'm bored
Marge: Why don't you read something?
Homer: Because I'm trying to reduce my boredom

I really don't see it as a Walt Era vs. Eisner era battle anymore. Clearly, the Walt era has prevailed up until this point, and is still holding strong. The only 4 outside it are generally acknolwedged as 4 of Disney's best, and were the "renaissance"... the films that resurrected the Walt era. I think they kind of rise above any era labels. It's impressive that EVERY other film outside of Walt's lifetime but these 4 has been knocked off before we even get to the top 10 (I was worried that wouldn't happen). Just my little two-cents analysis. :)

Aaron - just playing the survivor game. You know how it ends up as women vs men or old vs young.

I think it really does show the strength of those movies that none have received a vote in rounds. That is pretty universal appreciation.

Is there any hope for my beloved Alice? I don't think it should win or anything, but it's really one of my faves and I'd like to see it stay around :(. But I understand that this is getting down to the nitty-gritty.
