UK Snow White Blu Ray release confirmed as November 2nd 2009

Post by Deco King »

The UK release of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs is now confirmed as the 2nd of November 2009 , almost a month after the US and European countries such as France and Germany release dates which are all on October 6th!!

Why we in the UK have to wait so long goodness knows , but I'm really pissed off that we have such a long wait!

Cheer up, Deco King. The longer you wait, the sweeter the fruit.

Plus, you can always import.

That's kind of frustrating. You'd think with an important title like this, we'd see Disney employing a widespread international 'blanket' release date. :?

Still, at least you know the actual date now...

Well, not really. The Uk version won't feature the original mono audio track, nor will it have BDLive and as if that wasn't enough, won't be as cheap as the US version with all the promos and discounts we've heard of....

Wow ... good to see someone still posts in this forum! :D

I too am annoyed at the UK delay, since living in Malta, I hunt UK discs. Though I guess I could import the German or French releases if I wanted to.

Blu-ray makes disc selecting tricky for me. Since multi-regional DVD players are widely available here, it was never a problem for me to import a US disc when the European equivalent was unsatisfactory (e.g. Brother Bear Pan and Scan UK disc). But I've yet to hear of multi-regional Blu-ray dsic players, and the one we bought a couple of months ago is locked to Region B. So I'm somewhat limited.

Could it be that future firmware updates might render current players multi-regional (for Blu-ray playback)?

There are a few BD multi-region players at the moment (the Momitsu brand is supposed to be really good) but I feel there will be more multi zone machines trundled out when the format becomes more popular with regular households.

Lots of the American companies still issue their BD titles in multi-zone format (Warners, most of Sony, Genius Products). And even some titles that are marked as Region A are still playable on Region B-only devices. It pays to research, just as you said. :)

Here in Holland we have the same problem. And it doesn't make any sense, since in Belgium (next to us) they also speak Dutch, and the dvd they released there (on october 6th) als has Dutch subs, subtitles and everything!

Why do we have to wait?!
