this could be either the movie or the movie told through the horned king's view.
Well, did you know Tokyo Disney had a ride called "Cinderella Castle Magical Mystery Tour", where you went in the basement of the castle to go through many locations having to do with Disney villains, ending with the lair of the Horned King, poring over the Black Cauldron and raising some of the Cauldron Born! Yes, there are animatronics of all this! But one member of the tour group is selected to weild Taran's magic sword and defeat the king! You just stand there holding the sword and let "the magic" happen, but still!
That ride is permanantly closed, sorry Amy and all you other die-hard TBC fans ! Life can be cruel !

i thought it was closed, that's why i thought it was time to make another ride. there has to be some kind of way to bring this movie back to life since disney doesn't want to use disney princess to do so.

but i guess eilonwy doesn't feel like a princess, the only other princeses that do feel like they could belong in the franchise are kida and alice

ANYWAY!!!

too off topic.

But Alice is not a princess, either.

The Little Mermaid Dark Ride

Post by Disney Duster »

From Disneykid's review with Tony Baxter, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney Imagineering:
How much will The Little Mermaid dark ride at Disney's California Adventure resemble the virtual ride on its DVD?

Well, it isn't finalized yet, but you get a different approach,
because what we were [originally] doing was in a totally themed environment where Little Mermaid would be at home in Fantasyland the way the rest of our rides function there. Whereas this will be over in a park about how things are made, so it might have a different angle on the whole way in which you enter into the experience. It won't be coming off of an area that is distinctly Little Mermaid. Not much has been designed on that, at any event in this point, so it's sort of still subject to a lot of change.
I don't know if this spells trouble or what, because I want a ride that takes me into a fantasy, not a ride that teaches me how the movie was made or how a ship is made...I'm sure it won't be anything like that, but who knows what "new angle" they're going to try?

"About how things are made?" What? Hollywood Pictures Backlot is where they show how things are made, Paradise Pier (which is where the ride will be going) does not.

I hope they don't play Beach Boys music during the ride so they can Californicate it instead of TLM songs ! Imagine Ariel singing "I wish they could all be california girls" or "Good Vibrations" !
Or what if they make Ariel talk like this :
"Flounder I was like swimming up there y'know and I was like singing to this guy and he was like a total hottie, and I was like oh my god. But Daddy is gonna like y'know totally freak out and umm....whatever !"

Yeah I know, not everyone from California is a bimbo, how stereotypical ! :D

I wish they would build it in disneyland paris, where it was intended to be.
It even shows up on some of the first park maps as "coming soon"

well, you never know.

Yes, construction should start next year at California Adventure. Maybe even at WDW shortly afterwards!

HAHA, it's a mix of both really. I haven't mentioned it here, but having been a recent recruit to Israel's army, my time on the web has been severly limited. So, yes, everytime I have the chance I pop in for a visit and see the latest posts and Disney updates, but I just don't have much time to respond and to chit chat with all you wonderful UDers!! But gone completely? NEVER! :D

True, and welcome back!

EDIT: here is some (I guess old) news that wasn't posted here before.
Blue Sky has mentioned the following regarding Mermaid:

*Building will be early 20th century, Monterey style aquarium

*Ride approx 6-7 minutes long

All that is needed is a small back story that takes you from the realistic aquarium you enter to the fantasy world of mermaids.

Just to let you guys know, Ariel's Grotto has closed down from yesterday :(, to make way for Pixie Hollow. Her grotto will be re-opened when her ride is finished apparantly. Isnt that sad ? ?

Disneyland News Today is the best site for Disneyland news and rumors ...

http://dlnewstoday.com/wordpress

They shed light on the closing of Ariel's Grotto ... and when the dark ride might start construction ...
As previously reported, Ariel will move over to the Princess Fantasy Faire in her human form for 2-3 years, until a new meet ‘n greet for her mermaid form is built as part of the upcoming Little Mermaid attraction over at Disney’s California Adventure. Ariel’s Grotto’s replacement, Pixie Hollow, reportedly will open up on October 28th.

I have been hearing that they will actually close Golden Dreams as Golden Screams as soon as Halloween is over & then they will start work on the Little Mermaid. Although if you look at Disneyland’s official page for Halloween Time 2008, Golden Screams doesn’t appear to be listed. Time will have to tell on this one.

It was confirmed on their podcast that Golden Screams wouldn't be returning this Halloween ... So construction could start on the dark ride this fall ...

You are most welcome! That website ... along with WDW News Today ... are the most comprehensive sites in regards to US Disney park news and rumors ...

They usually report things before other sites do ... and before Disney officially announces things ...

Ariel will be a human in the Princess Fantasy Fair? why she can't be a mermaid?.
And the Pixie Hollow will open in the same day that the film will be released?.
