Thanks, BVHE-Rep for taking the time to post here. If The Aristocats is being delayed to create more extensive supplements, then more power to you guys. It shows that you guys heard our complaints over the meager re-releases of films like The Fox and the Hound and Robin Hood and are rectifying that with Aristocats.
Although there's little-to-no chance this question will be answered, I might as well give it a shot (excuse the off-topicness): Will we be seeing Hunchback of Notre Dame and/or Hercules re-releases in the future? I don't even really need a definitive answer. Just something like, "It's in discussion right now" would be enough for me. Thanks!

i would hope so because ever since disney delayed the release date, i was hoping that this meant that they were going to use more time into putting a lot of bonus features and "actually restore" the transfer to what a 2-Disc Special Edition of The Aristocats deserves.Simba3 wrote:So if it is being postponed until Spring of 2008 so that more supplimental bonus features can be added, does this mean we should still expect a 2 disc release?
but i guess some things will never happen

That's why he saiddanfrandes wrote:I don't think The Aristocats is going to be a Platinum Edition. Right?Flanger-Hanger wrote:Does this mean Aristocats will replace 101 Dalmatians as march 2008's platinum edition (I know it's not currently on the platinum line but has it been changed)?
I don't think it will replace 101 Dalmations, I think it will just be a normal special edition(I know it's not currently on the platinum line but has it been changed)?
No, it will not replace 101 Dalmatians as a Platinum Edition. The Platinum Edition titles seem to be pretty well set and I doubt there will be any alterations. If it is indeed a 2-Disc release, it will simply be a Special Edition along the lines of Mulan, Pocahontas, Alice in WonderlandFlanger-Hanger wrote:Does this mean Aristocats will replace 101 Dalmatians as march 2008's platinum edition (I know it's not currently on the platinum line but has it been changed)?

Could it be the first ever second edition to the masterpiece edition line?!Simba3 wrote:No, it will not replace 101 Dalmatians as a Platinum Edition. I was wondering about platinums because I wouldn't be able to stand any more delays for 101 Dalmatians. Although making Aristocats a platinum would make sense form a marketing standpoint (what better way to encourage people to re buy than make it on par with Snow White and Beauty and the Beast?). and for skeptics they could say how important it was to the continuation of animation at Disney.
Though I am excited to add The Aristocats to my Disney DVD collection, and I do appreciate the film, it will NEVER be on par with films like Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Beauty and the Beast, neither in terms of the story or the content of its bonus features. However, a 2-Disc Masterpiece Edition would be nice, then Alice wouldn't be so lonely.Flanger-Hanger wrote:Could it be the first ever second edition to the masterpiece edition line?!Simba3 wrote: No, it will not replace 101 Dalmatians as a Platinum Edition. I was this close to giving or getting rid of my Gold Collection DVD of Aristocats... Good Thing I didnt or else I would have to wait another year to watch it...
I sure hope it's a 2-disc and that would be worth the wait.... I Have one message to BVHE-Rep
Start digging in that vault for lost features to put on that dvd to make it a 2-disc.... and please don't give it a corny name edition such as Groovin Jazz Edition...
Also To TonyWDA:
I thought it was Danfrandes who came up with that idea... Thanks for clearing that up. Like Escapay said Groovin' Jazz Edition is your patent its also a danfrandes association as well as he took it and ran with the idea...
I guess what made me think Danfrandes came up with it is because he posted somewhere in this 18 pages of this thread that danfrandes contacted BVHE and said it should be a 1-disc with the name Groovin Jazz Edition or a title edition... So That is where I got the idea of it being related to danfrandes

I don't want to be rude, but are we sure the rep is legit? I mean technically anybody could create an account on here and claim to be a BVHV represenitive. If s/he is legit that news sucks big time. I was going to buy the Aristocats GC but put it off because this edition would be coming soon. Ah well, hopefully we'll get a new edition of something else to make up for it.
Oh and if you are actually from BVHV and reading this, please keep it a 2-disc set.

I was very dissapointed, but the promise that this will have great special features and that BVHE is going to put a lot of effort into is really excites me. Thank you for finally doing what's right!
I think what I was REALLY scared about was something happening like that Lilo & Stitch 2-Disc Edition we were supposed to get. Who knows when we'll see that one!

I wondered the same thing at first too, but I think if the mods were willing to update the front page with the news posted by BVHE-Rep, than the source is probably legit.Widdi wrote:I don't want to be rude, but are we sure the rep is legit? Seriously, I would be very disappointed if "The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh" was the ONLY Disney classic release outside of the Platinum Edition line. Last year we got threee (Dubmo, The Fox and the Hound, and Robin Hood). Hopefully Disney has something else in store for us. Hercules perhaps!!Widdi wrote:Ah well, hopefully we'll get a new edition of something else to make up for it.

Also, whenever a new member registers, they gotta submit a working e-mail and confirm their registraation. Since Luke can see all the e-mails used for each member, and if the e-mail the BVHE-Rep used was one from the Disney company (something like [email protected]), Luke could e-mail them and make sure they are a legitimate source.Simba3 wrote:I wondered the same thing at first too, but I think if the mods were willing to update the front page with the news posted by BVHE-Rep, than the source is probably legit.Widdi wrote:I don't want to be rude, but are we sure the rep is legit? A part of me is kind of glad that The Aristocats is being pushed back a year, especially with word on them working on new bonus features. Of course, that could either mean some ridiculous CGI heavy set-top game similar to Virtual Safari (from The Lion King DVDs)...I can picture it now, the "Virtual Kidnapping!" with a nice long tour through the French countryside. Either that or they're out shooting a slew of interviews and raiding the Disney archives to make a nice documentary about the film, as well as one about Disney Animation in the 1970s (what with Robin Hood being screwed out of any in-depth making-of materials in its last DVD release, Winnie the Pooh already having its own 25-minute featurette, and The Rescuers being largely ignored).
ETA:
I looked at BVHE-Rep's profile, they've got an e-mail listed that definitely sounds legit, so I'm sure we can rest easy for now.

Are you kidding me! Aristocats is coming out a year from now!?
*Head blows off and Dies*
There's no way Im waiting a year for the Aristocats..Im just going to have to buy the GC and double dip when it comes out.
I guess it is good they take their time....but that new edition better be a damned good one in 2-discs filled to the brim with special features! Or else...
