Tonight's nominees for Best Actor and Best Actress in a TV series make an interesting mix. One's role is clearly comedic and another's clearly dramatic. The others all straddle the line between the two. Which kind of actor do UD members prefer?

The nominees for Best Actor in a TV Series are...

Zach Braff (Scrubs)
Steve Carrell (The Office)
Keifer Sutherland (24)

The nominees for Best Actress in a TV Series are...

Marcia Cross (Desperate Housewives)
Felicity Huffman (Desperate Housewives)

...And the winners are....

<center><b><u>Best Actor in a TV Series</u></b>
<b>Steve Carell</b>
for "The Office"

<b><u>Best Actress in a TV Series</u></b>
<b>Marcia Cross</b>
for "Desperate Housewives"</center>

Congratulations to Steve and Marcia!

When we return, numba1lostboy will bring us the awards for Best Actor and Actress in a Feature Film.

<b><u>Best Artist</u></b>
It's a three-way tie!
<b>Aerosmith</b>

&

<b>Amy Grant</b>

&

<b>Madonna</b>

-Aaron
Madonna re-enters the building. A hushed silence comes over the audience, then loud cheers erupt when they realize Madonna has come back into the building. She walks up on stage, and grabs the microphone from Amy Grant, who is giving her millionth acceptance speech of the show. "Thank you, Amy. We have had enough of your rants for one evening. ;) Yes, yes. Finally, after 500 years in the business, I'm being recognized for my artistic abilities. You all know that I am truly the BEST artist, EVER. I'm just so glad that you didn't choose that Justin Timberflake character. Whenver I hear his music, my ears feel like someone is running their fingernails over a chalkboard. At least Amy has some sort of talent! ;) Oh, and Aerosmith? Combined, they must be at least 2,000 years old. I think I heard their bones crumbling inside their withered bodies, when they walked up on stage. I mean, come on. People think I'm old?! I'm young, compared to those guys! Seriously, though. I really do appreciate all of you here at UD, for your continued support, and all your money! Thank you!"

*Disclaimer* The above speech was a fabrication. Madonna actually had no input into it, at all. Also note, the speech is meant as sarcasm, and no harm is intended to any artist mentioned, nor to their fans. Thank you. *End Disclaimer*

To present our next two awards, please welcome numba1lostboy!

n1lb: <i>The Best Actor nomination is perhaps the most coveted among actors. It is
the recognition of their personal achievement, and not the filmmaker’s.
The slate of men we have here today is not exactly diverse- as most of
these films were widely regarded as action flicks- but the caliber is
nonetheless topnotch. Coming from other highly praised films such as
Titanic, Munich, The Prestige, and Edward
Scissorhands
, these actors have shown before they have what it takes</i>

The nominees for Best Actor in a 2006 Feature Film are...

Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest)
Leonardo DiCaprio (The Departed)
Daniel Craig (Casino Royale)
Hugh Jackman (X-Men: The Last Stand)

<i>Today, they all have been nominated, but only one will become the best.
The winner is:</i>

<center><b>Johnny Depp</b>
for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest</center>

n1lb: <i>As the Best Actor nom is admired among men, so it is with the Best Actress
nom among the women of Hollywood. The nominees for this year’s award are
women who the world admires: a charismatic caregiver, a driven journalist,
a dedicated doctor, a zealous pirate, an indifferent editor, a courageous
revolutionary, and a colorful queen. These wonderfully talented (and often
incredibly attractive) ladies have given so much to the world of cinema
and it is high time they received something in return.</i>

The nominees for Best Actress in a 2006 Feature Film are...

Emma Thompson (Nanny McPhee)
Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns)
Audrey Tautou (The Da Vinci Code)
Keira Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest)
Meryl Streep (The Devil Wears Prada)
Natalie Portman (V For Vendetta)
Kirsten Dunst (Marie Antoinette)

<i>Out of these seven nominees, only one can win, and that winner is:</i>

<center><b>Meryl Streep</b>
for The Devil Wears Prada</center>

Congratulations to Johnny and Meryl! Thanks to numba1lostboy for two great consecutive presentations!

Only two awards are left, folks. Coming right up: Best TV Series!

And now, to close out the TV portion of our awards and give the second-to-last award of the night, please welcome back to the stage UD's one and only moderator: Luke!

Luke: <i>There's 168 hours in a week. Multiply that by five major networks and you get 840 hours of programming. Consider cable and pay cable, and you get several thousands of hours each week. Sure, a sizable portion of that time goes to infomercials, news, and reruns. But that doesn't change the fact that a good TV show has to overcome a heck of a lot of competition to get your attention. A great show not only gets your attention, but keeps you watching, in its entirety and every week it's on. Whether it's with laughs, thrills, or a winning mix of the two, this year's nominees have captivated viewers again and again. </i>

The nominees for Best TV Series in 2006 are...

24
Desperate Housewives
Lost
The Office
Scrubs

<i>And the winner for Best TV series is... </i>

Timon/Pumbaa fan: After tons of terrific, joyful hours of seeing our choices for favorites of 2006, I'm honored to close this ceremony by presenting the biggest prize of the night: "Best Picture"(or "Best Film"). Now, this is the 3rd Movie and Media Awards ceremony we've done. While our "Best Film" nominees and winners may not be the same choices as say the Academy, but who cares? This is actually a great representation of what the general public feel are the true winners(even if the general public in this case are just hard-core Disney fans who own a computer), and is arguable a truer calculation of what deserves to be "Best Picture" nominees than what the Academy nominates. Now, while I can see why some people disagree with the choices, and I have to be honest and say I disagree with a few of the choices each year(this year, my main complaint was that a certain film about a certain secret agent with a certain three number initial which was completely robbed from this category), this is still an absolute blast of a ceremony and it's nice to see some of our favorite films get their fair dues. Favorite films of 2006 for UD members this year include Pixar's latest film about talking cars that go through all of life's problems a human has from worrying about competitive races to remembering beloved nostalgia. A musical in the vein of Chicago based on a 1981 Broadway musical loosely based on real life with a cast of big-star African-Americans. An installment of what has become one of Disney's biggest franchises to date, with innovating story and visual effects that have saved the U.S. box office by breaking almost all possible records out there. And finally, considering both of the previous winners have been superhero films, this year, we have two superhero films nominated from the two biggest comic book competitors out there: D.C. Comics and Marvel. Both happening to be two of the most popular superhero franchises from both as well. Five completely unique films, and are all great on some level. So without further adieu, the nominees for "Best Film" are:</i>

Cars
Dreamgirls
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Superman Returns
X-Men: The Last Stand

<i>And the Golden Mickey for "Best Pic..." oh, I'm sorry, "Best Film" goes
to......

Wow, I can't imagine how many hours this must've taken you to prepare! Great job to all those involved, especially Aaron. Hopefully, I'll be around to help out next year.

By the way, I was wondering: does this site have a yearly award show concentrating solely on the forum members? By this, I mean a show where award categories would include Funniest Poster, Nicest Poster, Most Informative Poster, Rookie of the Year, Best Poster (in general), etc.

:o Wait a minute! Whoa, whoa, whoa! The Spice Girls beat out The Beatles?! :?

Come on people, this isn't even a matter of opinion, this is a fact: The Beatles are the greatest band to ever create music! How in the world did Paul, John, Ringo, and George lose to people with names like Ginger
and Baby?!

In the words of Charlie Brown..."Good grief."

Another Charlie Brown quote: "I can't stand it!!!"
The Spice Girls winning is really ridiculous.

Congrats to all the other winners, especially Harry Potter, Grey's Anatomy, Pirates.....

The awards were a lot of fun, and a big hug of thanks to Aaaron!!

The Special Honor UD Award award goes to:

Anyways, numba1lostboy is on his way back to announce the other all-time "Best Of"!
What!!!!!! You're saying that the Spice Girls' music is better than The Beatles! I may have not been around when they were big, but I still prefer their music to the Spice Girls!

Spice Girls withstanding, I'm very pleased at most of the winners, even if Pirates' 437 wins got more and more predictable (relax, it was still my favorite 2006 movie). A big thank you needs to go out to Aaron for all of his hard work. Not only did he have to organize all this, he had to present half the awards himself. Thanks, Aaron, for making it this come out so smoothly despite deadlines and limited forum participation. At least you got to present an award to Amy (several times!) ;)
