THE ADVENTURES OF SPIN AND MARTY,
THE MICKEY MOUSE CLUB

“The Adventures of Spin and Marty” ran on Walt’s original The Mickey Mouse Club television program. This beloved
series follows two boys (David Stollery and Tim Considine) who meet at a summer boys ranch and share adventures
together. Marty (Stollery) is a wealthy city kid who meets Spin (Considine), the most popular camper from the previous
summer. The two don’t get along at first, but over twenty-five exciting episodes and many escapades, the boys become
friends. The series also starred Harry Carey, Jr., Roy Barcroft and J. Pat O’Malley.

Bonus features include the complete episode of the Mickey Mouse Club that first introduced the series, Tim Considine’s
original screen test; “Return To The Triple R” where Tim Considine and David Stollery give an exclusive interview and
tour the location that was the original “Triple R Ranch” filming site; “Back In The Saddle With Harry Carey Jr.” where
the actor reminisces with Leonard Maltin; and a gallery of still frame images from the “Spin and Marty” series.

DISNEY RARITIES, CELEBRATED SHORTS 1920s-1960s

This fascinating volume features some of Walt’s most unique animated triumphs. Included are several of Walt’s “The
Alice Comedies,” a pioneering series of early short films that combined live-action and animation. These wonderful,
lesser-known unique films pre-date much of the work that would make him world-famous. “Alice’s Wonderland” is one
of Walt’s very first films.

Fans will enjoy the unique animation of “Toot, Whistle, Plunk and Boom,” which won an Academy Award® (Best Short
Subject (Cartoon) 1953) and was the first cartoon produced in Cinemascope. This short film established a completely
new animation style for the Studio. DISNEY RARITIES, CELEBRATED SHORTS 1920s-1960s showcases a large
collection of Walt’s outstanding animated shorts that fans may not be aware of.

Bonus features include: “Alice’s Cartoon World” in which Leonard Maltin discusses Disney’s historic “Alice” shorts
with Virginia Davis who played the original Alice when she was 4-years old; “From Kansas City to Hollywood” – a
timeline of Walt’s silent era; “A Feather In His Collar” a rarely seen short supporting the Community Chest; audio
commentary for “A Symposium On Popular Songs” by composer Richard Sherman, and still frame galleries.

ELFEGO BACA and THE SWAMP FOX, LEGENDARY HEROES

Inspired by true life heroes, these are two of Walt’s most exciting television shows, ELFEGO BACA and THE
SWAMP FOX. Elfego Baca is a gunfighter (Robert Loggia) in the old west who changes his ways to become
sheriff and then a lawyer. Elfego deals with rampaging cowboys, outlaws and more in this exciting series about
law and order on the frontier. The Swamp Fox stars Leslie Nielsen (who starred in the classic film “Forbidden
Planet,” and would later become famous for the “Airplane” and “Naked Gun” movies) as Revolutionary War hero
Francis Marion. This patriot fought the British using unusual methods, and became known as “The Swamp Fox.”
In this superb series, Marion matches wits with the Tories in a story of adventure and action.

CONTENTS

• Elfego Baca: Nine lives of Elfego Baca
• Four Down and Five Lives to Go

Bonus materials will include an interview with Robert Loggia, star of “Elfego Baca;” “Tales of Courage and
Adventure” a featurette that examines the origins of these historical figures and the fascinating story of their lives,
still frame galleries from these TV shows, and more.

So, Donald V2 will have his war shorts after all, even Der Fuehrer’s Face.

Sounds like a pretty good wave, though I'm only likely to get The Chronological Donald Volume 2 and Disney Rarities.

Well The Disney Rarities appears to be missing 4 shorts from the time span it covers:

Reason and Emotion and Education for Death I can live with their omissions on account of the fact that they are on the OTFL set and are both pretty heavy on the propaganda side of things.

However Casey Bats Again and Susie The Little Blue Coupe have nothing wrong with them, perhaps both could be Easter eggs?

Anyway other than that I'm glad that all of the longer "shorts" have made it, espescially the stop motion "Noah's ark" and "A Symposium on Popular Songs" espescially as it's been given the first disney treasures audio commentary ever!

As for the Donald set weirdly there is no mention of the 1942 short Bellboy Donald Hopefully accidentally left off the press release!!!!!!!
Also why in the name of hell is The Volunteer Worker being included? It was on the chronological Donald volume 1!!!!

However as feared Elfego Baca and the Swamp Fox are not complete! :(

Swamp Fox has episodes 1, 2, and 3 and Elfego Baca has episodes 1, 2 and 5 (pretty weird IMO):(

Also I'm delighted to see A Feather in His Collar! I feared it had been forgotten when it wasn't included on last years Pluto set!

Lookin' good in general though.

Thanks, this is one piece of information I've been waiting for!

I'm also slightly surprised that Der Fuehrer's face is included on the DD set, but on the other hand, Education for Death is not included in the Rarities. Too bad about Susie and Casey, they should have been there.

I just checked and I found that I miss Bellboy Donald from 1942 and Duck Pimples from 1945. Contrary Condor appears "out of order" on the list.

I will be getting The Chronological Donald, Volume Two, Disney Rarities: Celebrated Shorts: 1920s - 1960s, Elfego Baca • The Swamp Fox - Legendary Heroes and The Adventures of Spin & Marty along with Gargoyles Season Two Volume One.

I guess Disney is still planning to release The Chronological Donald Volume 3 (since not all the shorts are in Volume 2.) and Chip 'n' Dale Volume 1.

Isn't it supposed to be 32 cartoons?

I counted 30 on the release so that would make 32 is those two were forgotten.

Duck Pimples is one of my all-time favorites.

Personally i wish they'd avoid the double dips. For one the war cartoons on this disc. Secondly i think Chip N'Dale werent in enough cartoons to fill a set. Which means you're gonna see even more double dips with donald cartoons if disney decides to give them a set anyway.

All 4 different Alices will have at least 1 short on this set. I don't know why they are double dipping Chicken Little they could've easily included Casey, Suzie or another Alice short instead. Great news that one of my favorites Alice's Egg Plant is going to be on this set.

I'm getting Rarities, Donald and Elfego Baca/Swamp Fox for sure.

Its a minor thing but I'm happy to see a complete episode of the Disneyland tv show on the Donald set. A Day in the Life of Donald Duck Will be interesting to see again. Also, prepare yourself for several Maltin intros on Disney Rarities and Social Line is just boring. The Lion looks like reused design from Lambert.

Oh no... where is "It's tough to be a bird" ???... This was from 1969 and I thought it would definitely be included !.. I guess they are not including anything from the late 60's after Walt's death ?

At least Goliath II is on there and two of the Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore shorts that I have desperately been wanting...

Sounds like a great wave. I'll be getting all four, even though I haven't the slightest clue what Elfego Baca and The Swamp Fox are like.

I don't so much mind the recycling of shorts from On The Front Lines. Better to have them twice than not at all, and besides, it's not such a bad thing to have a Donald cartoon with the rest of the Donalds, even if it was also a wartime piece.

I am a little concerned about a few of the things that ichabod pointed out, but hopefully that's a case of oversight on the press release, bonus features, or plans to release some of those things on future sets.

How many Alice shorts were made in total?

^ Im also really anticipating the Disneyland episode, possibly more than the contents of the set itself!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the vintage episode "Your Host, Donald Duck" is added as an extra on a future installment.

And where the hell are Bellboy Donald and Duck Pimples?? That better be a mistake in the pr!!

Also, why were Susie & Casie left off the Rarities set?? :x

Not the strongest of all waves released yet ... but "The Chronoligical Donald" and "Disney Rarities" are definitely the highlights of this wave.
As a Disney-afficionado I will collect them all.
About the double-dipping : In a set like "The Chronoligical Donald" I find it logical that all shorts are included .
