Mulan & Mulan 2 on Blu-ray (Spring 2013)

Post by Sotiris »

Mulan will be released on Blu-ray in spring 2013 in the U.S. The fact it is referred as a Platinum Edition is a common error and does not mean anything.
Boys and girls ages 3-7 will love this Little Golden Book retelling Disney's Mulan, available just in time for the release of the Platinum Edition DVD and Blu-Ray in spring 2013! In order to save her father's life, Mulan disguises herself as a soldier and takes his place in the army. Will Mulan bring shame to her family for what she has done? Or will she help save China from the Huns?

Jolly good, yet another needed release. This will, as Pocahontas & Tarzan do, look epic on Blu I feel!

I know it has been said time and time again, but Hercules / Hunchback must be ALMOST at Blu status by now ?

I hope we do. If we don't, I think I'll scream and cry. I've been waiting eagerly since 2009 for those two to be announced.

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for the Blu-ray releases of those to have featurettes about planning the story. They are both such interesting interpretations of their respective source material, and I'd be really interested to hear more about that.

Another book from amazon.com confirms this release:
Disney Princess fans love Mulan! The brave princess who joined the Chinese army to protect her father--with the help of a funny little dragon--is coming to Platinum Edition Blu-Ray and DVD. This activity book is full of movie scenes to color and more than 30 sparkly stickers that girls ages 3-7 will really enjoy!

Princess? Sounded more like an advert for Brave than Mulan.

Still, excited to see that, thanks!

Mind you, the only cool thing about this release will be the mere fact it is on Blu. There will be no special features surpassing the '2 Disc Special Edition' released a few years ago (in my opinion, obviously).

It has been pretty much on constant release over here, with the Musical Masterpiece still being around.

Yeah, one's ugly and the other's homo.

Oh wait, I forgot meg.

(disclaimer: i'm usually the last person to call someone gay based on how they dress; I was just joking about how the truly stupid take such things seriously)

^ Well Herc does wear in a dress in a way. Quasi isn't that ugly; his personality makes him the most sweetest and gentleman like of all the Disney men. :)

The point is Quasi may have a ugly appearance but his kind heart makes him extremely beautiful.

According to member msh1975, Mulan will be released with Mulan 2 on Blu-ray as a 2-Movie Collection.

I know it's very possible that this can be another 2-movie collection, but is it still possible for separate releases? I say this because the trailer doesn't showcase both films at the same time like past trailers have. It focuses solely on Mulan and doesn't give Mulan II the light of day. Then at the very end of the trailer it says, "Also available: Mulan II". I dunno, maybe there's the side of me that says this can be separate releases, but it also makes perfect sense for it to be another 2-movie collection, but it wouldn't fully explain the trailer change.

Going to repost what I said on the other Mulan thread:

Just got my Prep & Landing Blu-ray and saw the Mulan Blu-ray trailer. It dosen't mention that it's going to be a 2-Movie Collection with Mulan II. But Disney has been doing this with some Disney titles so it's 100% that that it's going to be a 2-Movie Collection Blu-ray because Disney wouldn't release Mulan II Blu-ray by itself (it wouldn't sell).

I'm not even to complain about the 2-Movie Collection crap because Disney now disappoints when releasing their movies to blu-ray including disc art and packaging. The only positive thing is you get 2 movies for the price of 1. I don't care how Disney release it all I want is Mulan in HD and hopefully with new bonus features. Still going to keep my Mulan 2-Disc DVD because I bet not even half of the bonus features are going to transfer to blu-ray.

By the way Disney I'm still waiting for Hercules Blu-ray too.

Hercules ? What's Hercules ? Says Disney with a confused look and shuffles back and tries to hide any traces of said movie existing... :P
