No, a new large scale dark ride (Omnimover system animatroic heavy etc) at Disney's California Adventure.

When I was younger, I had always wondered why there had never been a Little Mermaid ride, similar to Peter Pan and Snow White's. I still wonder why it's just being built. :P

Either way, I'm very excited for this.

I do feel some of the rides they have chosen are quite odd - Pinocchio doesnt scream, "Lets make it into a dark ride!" to me personally, and the angle that they chose to use for Snow White was quite different to what I thought they would do.

It makes perfect sense to use a Princess film to transform into a dark ride; and The Little Mermaid seems, to me, to be the ideal one to use. It seems to speak to both sexes, and enjoyed by all, maybe more so than some of the other later Disney films. Thats just my opinion anyway.

And of course I love the fact that Ariel has been chosen, as its obvious she is part of my favourite Disney film :)

I wonder how much of this ride being built is due to the DVD; have Disney ever said ?

The Little Mermaid didn't exist when the Pinocchio dark ride was built.

This ride is begin built to get guests into DCA to spend money, the fact that it's a princess movie and that there's a character meal restaurant nearby with her name on it means more money for Disney. It doesn't have anything to do with the DVD (unless you count DVD sales) just making DCA more successful. The fact that the ride will be a high quality for experience for guests just makes it a win-win situation for fans and Disney. We get a cool ride, they get an excuse to sell more Ariel toys.

I mean 'the ride that could have been' feature on the dvd; how much did the interest in it reflect the people at Disney making the ride.

Why thank you, lots of people here seem to do (which is why I haven't got rid of it yet).

I must say, I prefer WDW's exterior structure, its beautiful. DCA's is really nice too but you can't beat waterfalls

Maybe I'll have money to go back to the parks by the time all this stuff actually opens.

The Little Mermaid Ride

Post by Disney Duster »

It's GORGEOUS! The ride exteriors never been that elaborate or stunning! The ride will really be inside Prince Eric's real castle from the film?! Nice Ariel statue! It makes it more classical...

But wait, why do I also see Beast's castle, Belle's village, and some other homes from Disney films, including Cinderella's gorgeous chateau?!!!!!!!

I was looking for Cinderella's castle...then I realized...they already "have it". They need to re-do Cinderella's castle to make it look like how it does in the film, like those homes and castles in the pictures posted!

Please, explain to me, why the other film homes are there?! Dark rides for them, too?! I mean, according to that picture, the ride is among things we have not yet seen in WDW!

Flangy, please explian!!!

This is just showing how far construction has come on the ride ... foundations appear to have been laid.

Don't know how much information Disney will actually release to the public regarding this ride; like more concept art and previews ?
