For Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Shrek, Monsters Inc., Bug's Life, Toy Story 1,2, Tarzan, Fantasia, Lilo and Stitch, Road to El Dorado, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Pocahontas, Emperor's New Groove, Atlantis the Lost Empire, Treasure Planet, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, R3s do they have all the extras and stuff as the R1s? I own the Mulan R3 and it's missing the trailer and music video extras but has Cantonese and Mandarin tracks. Looking at layoyo.com, it seems like for Monsters, Inc. the commentary is replaced with Cantonese and Mandarin tracks.

Gau dog - welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure about "official" R3 releases, or what their individual specs are (perhaps someone else on this forum knows?), but I'd just like to offer this piece of warning advice:

Be careful when buying some supposedly "R3" titles online (especially from eBay) unless it is a reputable dealer. Quite often the supposed r3 version of the film is nothing more than a bootleg. I know this is the case with many of the Mulan copies floating around on eBay.

But, hey, if you are cool with that.... :D

Anyways, not much of an answer, but just watch out for that.

Don't worry, I'm quite aware of bootlegs and such. Why would any bootlegger region encode their dvd? There's lots of legit R3s sold at reputable hk online stores like layoyo.com, yesasia.com, dddhouse.com etc.. I actually tried to get that boot of Mulan from ebay since they're all region but when i confronted the seller to lower the price, telling him i knew it was a boot, he refused to even admit it was a boot. That ticked me off so much I just went and bought the official R3. IVL distributes all the Disney DVDs in HK. The whole appeal to these versions is listening to them in another language. It's fun to hear the songs in another language.

Hmm.. it seems yesasia.com gives some hint to specs, but it'd be nice to get some actual confirmation.

I believe that there are 2 R3 Monsters, Inc. releases. One is a single disc FULLFRAME copy with no commentary. The other is a WIDESCREEN 2 DVD set which contains all the supplements from the R1 set, including the commentary and a DTS [Korean] soundtrack (both releases also feature the original English DD 5.1 soundtrack). The only thing it is missing from the R1 set is the FULLFRAME version of the movie (presumably removed to make room for the DTS track, like the UK 2 disc release).

However this information is for the Korean release of the film. I do not know if Hong Kong has only one of these releases, both of them, or a whole different release. DVD regions are large places (for example there are lots of different versions of Disney DVDs in Europe, even though the whole of Europe is assigned R2).
