It appears that there will be no more Walt Disney Treasures released in the USA. Does anyone know anything about how that will affect the continuation of Walt Disney Treasures in Region 2? There was a big bunch of Region 2 releases yesteryear, including both volumes of Mickey Mouse in Black & White, The Complete Goofy, Oswald The Lucky Rabbit and The Chronological Donald, Vol. 3. So there seems at least to be some activity in the Region 2 dept. On the other hand, I haven't read or heard any news about upcoming releases for this year. Yet.
I don't expect that all Walt Disney Treasures that have been released in Region 1 will ever find their way to Region 2. Some are too USA-centered and some other might lack the appropriate commercial appeal. However, one could expect that the character volume series that have been started will at least be finished. I'm thinking about volume 4 of The Chronological Donald, The Complete Pluto, Vol. 2 and More Silly Symphonies.
The future of Walt Disney Treasures in Region 2

Every animated set of wave 1 and 2 fame have been relesed in region 2
Mickey Mouse in Living Color (Wave 1)
Mickey Mouse in Black and white (Wave 2)
The Complete Goofy (wave 2)
Silly Symphonies (Wave 1)
No errors have been corrected it is direct transfer of the content of those DVDs.
I dont care what is left for region 2 in wave 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, as I do have all animated set on there in region 1 format.

Der Fuehrer's Face is the greatest Donald Duck cartoon ever made.

Sometimes I wonder whether the Chronological Donald Vol. 2 may look better in Region 2 than it does in Region 1, based on the fact that Region 2 releases have sometimes corrected mistakes in the Region 1 releases.
I currently find the shorts included on Donald Vol. 2 and Disney Rarities to be practically unwatchable, i.e. I find the quality of the visuals bad enough to actually affect my enjoyment of the films.
What bothers me most is the encoding of the shorts on DVD, rather than the lack of a restoration. Why is every short soft-looking, full of video noise (look at the poorly resolved line art, it shimmers - not an age related issue) and filtered through what look like twenty layers of transparent plastic?[/b]

Well, stitchje1981, as Europeans we unfortunately must mix and match with the Treasures releases. My own collection is mostly made of American discs, with about 4 European sets. I import Region 2 sets from the UK and I just bought Mickey in B&W Vol. 1 from Spain![/b]stitchje1981 wrote:Here Belgium we 've had about 4 releases I think

And indeed we are the unfortunate ones who have to mix and match.
I bought those for 4 in the store in here in Belgium, chronological Donald 2 and 3 I bought from Germany, the Complete Goofy from the UK and that is as far my region 2 versions go! The Complete pluto 1 and 2 + Oswald the lucky rabbit are region 1 and I let them come over from the US...
