Well they released in WS here, so hopefully they will do the same there. It was Herbie Goes Bananas that was released in 1.33:1 here.Captain Hook wrote:I want Herbie Rides Again on WIDESCREEN! I hope Disney is planning to release it soon.
Interesting to see what ratio each of them is released in over there. I have a sneaking suspicion some of these ratios aren't right (although there is consistency in their inconsistency).Luke wrote:I expect the Herbie sequels to be forthcoming in the US. They've been assigned UPCs already.

Personally I only care about Herbie Rides Again... the other two my parents have and the quality isn't as good. I wonder what aspect ratios we'll get. I think it's almost likely that we'll get P&S, because most sequels of live action have gotten it that way so far (Savage Sam, Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again). However, Return from Witch Mountain gives me hope that they might give us widescreen.
Blackstar is now listing all the Herbie sequels as also being available to buy seperately on DVD in the UK.
The Box set has had an official Press Release issued at last:

Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Please let me know if you hear any news re: aspect ratio of 'Goes Bananas' (which seems to come out in the UK October 6). I might even think about 'upgrading' if it is in widescreen (it is 1.33:1 here, although I'm not sure what the correct ratio is).2099net wrote:Blackstar is now listing all the Herbie sequels as also being available to buy seperately on DVD in the UK.
Cheers and thanks for the tip...

According to www.imdb.com, "Herbie goes Bananas" has a 1.85:1 AR.

I think I had seen that, but thanks for the confirmation...
Hoepfully, then, the UK version will be the proper ratio.
Still seems strange that 3/4 of them are widescreen and that one is not.
Perhaps it is correct, VERY strange if it isn't...

It most likely is in widescreen. I think we all agree on that However, it might be possible that it was made in full screen, though I doubt it...Luke wrote:It was released theatrically in 1980 - it's highly, highly unlikely it wouldn't have been widescreen then. Although we all know the IMDb is often wrong.
