Re: Julian Carter's Comic

It wasn't judged for the artwork really...more for the story. Mine was critiscized as being "amusing, but nothing really stood out", "the humour was forced" and it was too long. Graphically, I think I submitted the best one.

What makes me feel like a fish out of water on Final Fantasy Shrine Forums is that most people there have to turn every thread into a sexually perverted one. Bad words and vulgar language rule. In fact, all the other comic strip entries had some vulgar or sexual stuff included. I don't know how to make stuff like that, and I don't want to do it anyway. If I want to joke that way, I only do it with my closest friends, not on the internet where everybody can read it.

However, just like you can't judge a book by it's cover, you can't judge a person by what you see on a forum. I still post at Final Fantasy Shrine, because although everyone can be vulgar, a lot of people there are still nice and have good intentions, even if their joking consists of constantly mentioning sexually oriented words. I think I must be the only one on Final Fantasy Shrine who has never uttered a vulgar word.

It's not like I'm a saint or anything. At school we laugh and joke about a lot of rude and vulgar and sexually oriented stuff (I suppose all teens do  ). But I believe firmly that you have to draw a line somewhere. Personally, I don't think it's decent to joke the same way on something public, like a forum. It's embarrasing anyway.

Potty Mouths!

I think that vulgar and sexual words are perfectly fine in forums if most members of those forums are at the right age to read them. For instance, I actually think such words are fine in this forum. I know that some people say, "But children go on here!", but I severely doubt those children aren't teenagers, who hear and usually use these words every day.

And when it comes to Final Fantasy, aren't those games rated T for Teen?

It doens't really have anything to do with the games, because I'm usually actually not discussing the games (even though I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy VII). The games are fine.

I'm not talking of just a few vulgar words, but completely immersed in sex threads. There's even a thread to "post yourself naked". I don't dare enter it.

F*** Final Fantasy Forum

Post by Disney Duster »

What I meant was that since the Final Fantasy games are rated T for Teen, most of the people on the forums about Final Fantasy will be teenagers, who usually use those vulgar and sexual words all the time, and it's fine for them to read such words.

But if they have threads devoted just to sexual things, that's way overboard, and I can't blame you for thinking a line needs to be drawn there. Since most members are probably teenagers, wouldn't they be underage, and thus it would be illegal for them to post themselves nude?!

And the most important question: If you don't even like Final Fantasy that much, why the heck are you a member of a forum about it?!

That forum scares me... :o ...and yes, stay out of the "post yourself naked" thread!!! MY EYES!!! :brick:

Ya know, the forums over at the official Playstation site have a Final Fantasy board (as well as a RPG board and an Anime board,) I figure that is good enough for any news about FF...

So you've seen it! Then you know what I'm talking about! There are nice people there, but also a lot of ill-mannered ones. I remember when I first posted there, the first reply I got was "F**k off".

I do have some fun there, but I post much less then here, because you practically can't have a good debate there. People start a lot of crappy threads, like this one: http://forums.ffshrine.org/showthread.php?t=30946

It's called "My Potato Salad Smells". I don't get it. :?

But now, maybe I'm being a hypocrith, because even I sometimes made pointless threads at FFShrine, simply because I felt like it. I'd certainly never do anything like that at UD, but FFShrine is so shallow...well, you all know what I mean.

While typing this, I question myself why I actually still post there. I don't know. It's nothing next to UD, but it's still fun sometimes over there.
