Why can't I be a moderator? Huh Luke...

If anything there are too many moderators right now. I tried to avoid having any for a long time since I've seen good posters go bad (or bland) when they became moderators and generally, the 'feeling of power' (as trivial and theoretical as it may be) tends to overshadow actual moderator duties (which are minimal) and can sometimes replace that feeling of enjoyment that makes people want to post on a forum. Plus I think I'd rather take criticism/responsibility all by myself than have people expressing their discontent with others who volunteer to help out.

I'm sure many of the posters here would make fine moderators; but very few are needed. You should feel it as much of an honor to NOT be asked, because I'd hate for the only regular posters to be moderators. Just like I wouldn't be crazy about making moderators out of the most frequent posters. There are several posters on the forum who bring so much as "regular posters" that I wouldn't have it any other way and wouldn't want to ask them to become moderators.

The thrill of becoming a moderator may be the most special part about the role; it's not all that exciting, but I think it's necessary to have a few people in that role to make sure the forum is flowing well at all times and the rare problem gets addressed in a timely fashion.

I agree 100% Luke. I've been a moderator on a couple of other forums before, and while it may be exciting at first, it ends up making you not want to post on the forum anymore, either because you're too busy moderating, or because it feels too much like a chore and you have a big new responsibility since you have to set a really good example for other posters. (whoa that was a really long sentence :o)

I commend the moderators on this forum that are still regular posters and bring just as much life to the forum as they did before receiving their duties.

Who are the mods here?

Please try not to quote other peoples' posts only to add an emoticon. It really doesn't contribute much to the discussion and is annoying to others who expect something new to have been posted. Thanks. :)

Oh, and no need to post a reply that you're sorry. :tink:

Is this up to date? I'm just a tad confused as to who the moderators and administrators are because normally, the staff position would be marked where the member title is located. It doesn't seem to be the case here at UD, though.

Oh, and if there's a newer thread for this subject, then I'd suggest that you update the Posting Guidelines and Helpful Links thread. Image

Yeah, I work at a phpBB powered site, so I'm used to the different colours. I guess the titles are the only dissimilarity between the two sites.

Thanks for the info, Escapay.

I wanna be a moderator! 8) :D I think I'd be great! ....no in fact never mind I think I annoy one too many people on here lol. Plus I kinda get in a mood sometimes...but most of the time Im chirrpy? perky? happy?

On PlanetLara, god it was so annoying...probably half of the billion members on there were moderators...and some of them were real jerks. I look at a thread and BANG! The whole thread is flooded with members that have the neeto Moderator sign underneath there title names.

But I have questions about how I can do more stuff in UltimateDisneyInternetLand...

1) How do you get to write reviews?

2) How do you get to do those cool Interviews?

3) Can we submit custom made emoticons?

Luke contacts you if he has something that needs reviewing and likes you grammar skills.
2) How do you get to do those cool Interviews?
Well, same as above I assume. As to how Luke is able to get celebrities to take their time to talk with UD, well... he makes them an offer they couldn't refuse.
3) Can we submit custom made emoticons?
Not unless Luke approves.

Oh okay, Thanks Timon/Pumbaa Fan :D

Sheesh...time to work on my grammar skills!

Ah well...perhaps in a couple years if Im still around here maybe Luke will allow me to write reviews and do neato interviews.

I've just noticed now that CJ has joined the ranks of the UD mods with her new green online status!

Congratulations, CJ!

:pink: :pink: :pink: :pink: :pink:

*Escapay dashes off to update the UD wikipedia page*

*Escapay returns dejectedly after seeing it was already edited on the 21st*

*Escapay pours himself a tall glass of ice cold lemonade to drink, promptly forgets what he was supposed to be doing*

*Escapay hits the submit button*

Well, Paka's on the site as we speak (his/her name still written in bolded green lettering), so I wouldn't be so sure of that. Image

How does one become a moderator? I want that job so badly.

Luke picks them when he needs them, lots of us want moderator jobs, if he picks someone new they would probably need to be a member here longer than you have been

Now, wait a minute. CJ has those kinds of rights and he's not a moderator. How did he get that job?
