Hairspray Live!

Post by Disney's Divinity »

Anybody else excited for this? I didn't watch any of the other live shows after TSoM, but I'm actually looking forward to this one. They have a great cast--Jennifer Hudson as Maybelle, Kristen Chenoweth as Velma, Harvey Fierstein as Edna, Martin Short as Wilbur, and Rosie O'Donnell, Sean Hayes, and Andrea Martin in smaller roles.

And I know some won't like Ariana Grande, but I think she'll do okay as Penny; same with Derek Hough as Corny Collins. There are two Disney stars, too, but I don't think they'll bother me (hopefully). One of them's from that Beach movie, but not the cute one I remember. Tracy's actress looks like she might be an unknown--Maddie Baillio? I hope she does a good job.

I'm looking forward to it.
I loved The Sound of Music and Grease.
Peter Pan was okay.
I hated The Wiz.

I thought it was okay, something to fill the time. Ariana Grande was pretty bad and the guy playing Link was awful. I liked everyone else, although Kristen Chenoweth could’ve been a bit better. Whoever played Seaweed was great. Jennifer Hudson was the star, imo. I’ll pick up the soundtrack for her alone, but I knew beforehand that she'd sound phenomenal on “I Know Where I’ve Been.”

Nice to have Darren Criss as a host, but I couldn’t help thinking how much I wished they’d cast him as Link. A little older, yes, but who cares. He would've been better than who they got.

I was really excited for this, but was totally let down by all the lip-syncing. "Hairspray Live" wasn't. The play itself also had some actors who were very, very good, and a couple who were very bad.

I watched the broadcast more than three times and the only thing that bugged me was the poor lip-syncing.

Sorry I disagree with you on this. Watch the opening song "Hello Baltimore" and you will see it plain as day.

I loved the show but was just saying they have done a better job present it.
