Personally, I think Harry Connick, Jr. is awful. It's obvious his taste in music is nearly as bad as JLo's--he would hate the best contestants that have come out of this show (Clarkson, Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert) because he prefers whisperers, hence this season of talentless contestants. And Jennifer Lopez casts people who can't sing because she herself can't sing. Simon is the only good judge this show's ever had.

People can whine about Nicki Minaj all they want, but her season was nowhere near as bad as this trainwreck of a season, and the ratings show it.

Well I'm afraid we'll have to agree to disagree on this season then.

Last night Caleb showed everyone why he should be the next American Idol. Even with vocal chord problems he showed the power in his voice and performed all three songs almost flawlessly. He was rewarded by great props from the three judges and the crowd went crazy.

Biggest loser of the night, in my opinion, was Alex Preston. He ruined three great songs by doing what he always does, deconstructing them. This might work in a night club setting, but as far as filling concert halls, NOT!!!

Jena Irene was far from perfect until her final performance of the song "Creep", and she let us all be entertained by making this song her own and blowing the roof off the building.

Tonight if Alex doesn't get home, I will know for sure that the fix has been in for the past three seasons. Ever since Phillip Phillips was awarded the title, followed by Candace Glover, and now, maybe Alex Preston, that will wrap it up for me as a viewer. When they announced all the new changes for this season I was brought back and am liking everything I have seen to the point of the Top Five. Then you could see the tide turning toward who the actual winner might be, and thinking we are all dumb as rocks, they have thrown away some very good talent to get to where we are tonight.

The Final Two for next week better be Jena Irene and Caleb. Alex will only be a guest on next week's Finale. That's the way it should go.

Does it bother anyone else that they never tell us how many votes were cast, and give a once a while percentage difference in the bottom three? They can't because they truly don't know. Let's hope that they get it right, and send Alex packing tonight!!

I'm glad Alex is gone, but I personally think Caleb is awful and as unmarketable as Candice last year. Regardless, he was going to win from the beginning because all the grannies think he's cute, he's white, he's from the South, he's southern rock, and he's a guy. Too bad, Jena is the only one from this year that deserved to win. Old viewers have run this show into the ground.

I would say I'm not going to watch Idol any more since it's been down the tubes for years, minus a blip last season where the talented female contestants actually got a chance, but it's not like The Voice is any better. Two of the top 3 on that show are absolutely awful and don't deserve to be that far either.

First of all, NOTE: To Disney Divinity: after reading all of your posts regarding Season 13 of American Idol and little asides about The Voice Season Six, I have come to the conclusion that you wouldn't recognize real talent if it was right in front of you. I have had a good career in the recording industry with over 50 million record sales back in the 70's - perhaps you have heard of "Incense and Peppermints" by the Strawberry Alarm Clock? That is all mine and I am proud of it. Ed King went on from the 'Clock' to Lynyrd Skynard and has a great career. A young man named Jerry Raye sold a couple million records, and I discovered him in a bowling alley in Salinas, California. I can list many more, but those two are at the top of my list. I do recognize talent when I see it, and Phillip Phillips doesn't have the staying power that Scotty McCreery has, that is why I don't care for him. So just because you don't particularly care for someone's performance, or their looks, or their voice, doesn't mean they don't deserve to be where they are today.

If you don't vote, you can't complain. And if you want to complain, there are addresses to write to that you can voice your opinion, for what it's worth.

I truly think that Jena Irene is going to be this year's American Idol. She is very marketable, has a great voice, and has grown on that stage this season. She was in the bottom three a couple of times, so she must have something that other people see.

Caleb Johnson, whether he wins or loses, has a fabulous career ahead of him. I, personally, think he is a one trick pony, and that's why he will not win the crown this year. But the fact that he will be signing lead with Kiss on the Finale show tells me that he will have a great career after the show.

Jena Irene is truly the person that fits the mold of American Idol, and had Alex Preston gone on instead of her, like you, I would have given up on the show. The "fix" is apparently not in this year as it has been the past three and I hope that America and Fox get it right this season and make Jena the American Idol 2014.

And since the American Idol Tour 2014 is coming to Wichita for the very first time (Kansas Star Casino, Mulvane, Kansas, August 2) I will get my tickets and go see the show if Jena wins. If Caleb wins, I will save my money and go see Rick Springfield and Pat Benator the following weekend.

As for your little side notes about The Voice, the only one that I didn't agree with going to the Finals is Kristina Grimmee. Kristin Merlin should have been there instead, but I think that Josh Kauffman will be the winner, hands down, this year.

In a weird programming move, Fox has scheduled the one-hour Season Thirteen final show for tonight at 7 pm Central time, as the two survivors, Jena Irene and Caleb Johnson, will perform one last time for our votes, before tomorrow night's Two-Hour Season 13 Finale Spectacular, when we find out who will be the next "American Idol".

For those interested, the Season Finale of The Voice Season Six is on tonight on NBC from 8 to 10 pm Central time. So there is no conflict if you want to watch both shows. I will DVR one and watch it later in the evening.

My inner self wants to see Jena Irene win this whole thing. She has grown each week, and her version of Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love" a couple of weeks ago was the turning point for her in the quest to become the next American Idol.

I think Caleb has all the power and stage presence to continue his run after the show, and coming in second will not hurt his career in any way. If he wins, he will have a great start to a good career anyway. I still think that Jena Irene will win.

I still believe Caleb has the show on lock, unfortunately, but Jena should win. Idol has a history with these white guys, so I'm not holding out for much. Caleb reminds me of Candice last year as far as being a good singer (Candice was better though), but being too outdated to ever have a real career. Candice sang like someone straight out of the '60s, Caleb sings like someone from the '70s. Too bad this is 2014.

I actually think Jena's song is probably the most marketable winner's song they've had after Phillips' "Home." Idol coronation songs tend to be cheesy ballads, so I was surprised.

I guess this winner describes perfectly why this was the first season American Idol lost the ratings battle with The Voice. If only Southern white guys who appeal to old voters can win this show anymore, just put it out to pasture. Its past contestants will always trump The Voice, but the mess that this show is now is an embarrassment compared to what it once was.

Michael Johns, from season 7 of American Idol (personally, my favorite season of the show), died yesterday from a blood clot.

I own his first album. Very talented, and still pretty young. Rest in peace. :(

I was given tickets to last night 'American Idol Top 10 2013' Show in Mulvane, Kansas at the Kansas Star Casino and was treated to one of the better rock and roll shows I have seen there.

Surprise guest of the night was Scotty McCreery, who there to plug his headlining show on August 10 at the Cotillion in Wichita. He also sang two songs.

Jena Irene was the show stopper. She spent only about 15 minutes on stage but it was the best 15 minutes of the show.

Caleb Johnson, who won the title earlier this year, was the last to perform solo, there were several group and duets and trios also, but Caleb was wired and his performance was far and above the best of the evening. It was a little more than two hours of entertainment that I am glad to say I was there to see it all.

I don't watch that show anymore, because it's a rigged show.
