No Strings Attached (Jim Henson)

Post by Sotiris »

The Muppets made an impressive big-screen comeback last fall alongside Jason Segel, Rashida Jones, Glee star Jane Lynch and Amy Adams on the musical adventure "The Muppets".

Muppets creator Jim Henson Company looked to duplicate the success on small screens with Variety confirming their producing partnership with U.K. broadcaster BBC on a Muppets-inspired variety show called "No Strings Attached". U.K. comedy writer and broadcaster Danny Baker confirmed his status as the writer for the new show via Twitter.

"I'm writing the new Muppet/Puppet show for BBC/Henson," Baker tweeted along with posting a picture of himself with Muppet character Kermit the Frog. "There I’ve said it."

Brian Henson also joined as the lead puppeteer with all the new puppets being created by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop in Los Angeles.

BBC described a format very similar to the original Muppets Show with two celebrity guests taking part in sketches with an additional reality-contest-inspired segment with the guest stars competing in games staged by the puppets.

"No Strings Attached" will premiere on the BBC’s flagship channel BBC1.

Something old, something new. Any new Muppets, done in the same creatuve spirit as the originals, is fine by me.

That's not really a Muppet Show though. Jim Henson puppets yes, but not Muppets.

So I'm guessing ABC will get the rights to broadcast in the States

A few years ago "The Muppets tonight" was on tv, following the famed "Muppet show", but it was only short-lived. Why was it cancelled? It was fun.

Blu-ray.com says that it's region free and has these subtitles: English SDH, French and Spanish.
