Dick was the first celebrity I ever met and chatted with. I met him back in 1994 while on a family trip to Universal Studios. Suzanne Sommers had a talk show taping on one of the sound stages. Dick was a guest host that day and Chubby Checker was the music guest. Chatted with Dick during one of the breaks for commercials. Great guy. He will be missed . RIP Dick. Get them rockin' up there!

Never did see footage from that taping. we were sitting in the front row so probably got some time on camera as well.

Watched American Bandstand for decades. Saw the first of his New Years Rocking Eves when Guy Lombardo was the big New Years host. The show has really gone downhill since Seacrest took over due to DC's stroke & failing health (along with the fact imo that the music now just sucks). RIP Dick. America's oldest teenager has gone.

I had a very personal relationship with Dick Clark for over 10 years. When I worked for a radio station that was owned by Dick Clark, it was my pleasure to have him stop by once in a while during the three years I was there, and just sit down and chat about music, and what influences it had on me. He would always have an ulterior motive, he usually was hawking a new release from some artist that he was trying to make a star. When I left KOWN Radio I went to work for Art LaBoe's Original Sound Records as its West Coast Sales and Promotion Manager, where my relationship with Dick Clark was really enhanced. We had a couple of artists on our label, we did more than just the "Oldies But Goodies" LP's, we had Dyke and the Blazers and The Music Machine who each were big stars in 1966. Arlester Christian used the name 'Dyke' and called his band The Blazers, and laid down some very good rhythm and blues tracks ever. Christian wrote "In The Midnight Hour" for Wilson PIckett, and had hits on the Billboard charts of his own with "Let A Woman Be A Woman" and "Funky Broadway", which was also recorded by Wilson Pickett in the middle sixties.

I was responsible for getting the Music Machine and Dyke & The Blazers on "American Bandstand" and used my performance for Mr. Clark as one of his Top DJ's to get these artists on the show.

I then enjoyed the pleasure of being invited to Clark's home on several occasions and considered him to be a friend.

I was shocked when I heard the news today. I knew he had a history of heart problems, but after his stroke he worked harder than I have ever seen him to be able to just talk and flash that smile, but those of you who watched "America's Rockin' New Year's Eve" saw the show decline in who would be there to play for us, and the fact that Ryan Seacrest was NO Dick Clark.

Dick hosted every New Year's Rockin' Eve since I was born, I'll miss seeing him. In the past I had the extreme honor of dining at his restaurants, dick clark's American Bandstand Bar & Grill. It was really good and I always had a great meal.

I watched Bandstand every week throughout the 70s & 80s. I wish it were on DVD.

Dick always did seem sweet, and heck, he was part of the Disneyland Opening Day Celebration! I'll always remembering most fondly from that, though my older sis did always watch American Bandstand on Saturday mornings when we were kids in the 80's. The New Year's Eve shows I only slightly watched (often just the countdown part), but it will not be the same without him.

Perhaps what the Mayans meant was not that 2012 would be the last year, but the last year of New Year's Eve shows with Dick. But, yeah, ha, when I said that to my sister yesterday about the 2012 thing and Dick Clark, my sis said she also read that on some website, ha.

Ugh, thought I replied to this. Yeah, I guess you're right, but it's weird, I always remembered him as being part of that show!
