Lene Lovich - "Bird Song"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=maucjGIUzzo (no ads)
The artist behind one of my favorite 70's songs- "Lucky Number." I don't know why I never had the idea to check her out beyond that song before today but... wow! Did everything she touch turn to gold or what?

It's been 10 days... long enough.
Anyway, been hearing this one - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsvSyhl0pHk - about the internet a lot the past year or so and only last month found out what movie it's from:
Well, spank me all to hell, it seems 2010's equivalent to The Last House on Dead End Street has managed to rack up the horror genre's most memorable original theme since the 80's (however, I refuse to say anything about the movie). Good music to listen to when you're thinking about how nice it'd be to grind someone up into little pieces. Which I'm sure we all can relate to.

I always said that was one of my lesser ELO favorites but their discography is so expansive, I only know about 20% of their work if I'm lucky. If I use my think, I can remember how that song (among with most of the tracks on this album:Dr Frankenollie wrote:I'm rather addicted to ELO (especially the wonderful "Mr Blue Sky")
)
became a fixture of my childhood nostalgia. Especially in the autumn and spring. Then, replace Queen with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and you have me (not that you asked for me but I seriously love ELO).

Great call on the ELO and Queen. I'm a big fan of both as well! Interestingly, both have been in my head lately since they were referenced in the recent Closing Ceremony of the Olympics.
The excellent studio version of "Mr. Blue Sky" was used and it's one of my favorite ELO tracks (others include "It's A Living Thing" and "Can't Get It Out Of My Head".)
Also, there was a tribute to Queen with footage of Freddie interacting with the crowd from "Live At Wembley", which led to 2 of the surviving 3 members (Brian May and Roger Taylor) playing "We Will Rock You" live with a contemporary singer filling in for Freddie.
Which, of course, left me craving for the real deal - so I found the amazing Wembley video on YT in it's entirely and have been enjoying it ever since. There will never be another Freddie Mercury, who not only had a great voice, but an amazing command of the stage as well.
Definitely one for my "Wish I had seen them live" list.
So, for those inclined, enjoy!

Lush - "Nothing Natural"

Have never heard of this (late 80's to mid 90's) band until today. Very worth checking out, this is one hell of a song.

Nice to see you too!Lazario wrote:^ HE LIVES!!!
Excellent find on the Lush, I really enjoy them as well. Yet another great band I became exposed to via MTV's late, great "120 Minutes" program in the late 80's/early 90's that showcased "alternative", "New Wave" and "indie" music, back when MTV was actually more about music.Lazario wrote:Lush - "Nothing Natural"

I remember hearing some of their stuff on college radio also.
I'm glad you found them!
(Nothing Natural and it's parent album Spooky were produced by Robin Guthrie, guitarist and main musical architect of the Cocteau Twins.)

Maybe you guys can help me. They play this song at my work, but I have NO IDEA who sings it or it's name I've done countless searches but have come up empty. I was able to record about 1 1/2 minutes of this song with my blackbery earlier this year. It's on Youtube, you should listen to it with headphones cause the sound isn't very loud. If anyone knows anything about this song, please let me know. Here's the youtube link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po1AmkPe ... e=youtu.be
