I arrived the middle of the trailer reel, so before Les Miserables, I saw previews for

-Admission: a dramedy with Tina Fey meeting a highschooler who needs to be admitted into university whom she finds out is her son.

-Oblvion: a Tom Cruise sci-fi unconventional postapocalypse story.

When I went to see the 3D re-release of Monsters, Inc. yesterday, these trailers were shown before the film:

- Monsters University
- Oz the Great and Powerful
- Epic
- Despicable Me 2
- The Smurfs 2

We get three trailers, and only three trailers, and NO advertisements in our theaters here in Kansas.

Before Zero Dark Thirty they showed:

Star Trek Into Darkness
World War Z
Man of Steel

Just three? That's not very exciting.

And we don't have to sit through 20 minutes of advertising like most theaters do.

Most people who are paying $10 to see a movie don't want to see a whole lot of trailers. I agree with that philosophy totally. If they only showed one trailer before the movie I wouldn't be disappointed.

Yuck! I love the trailers!! It's the best part! Okay, not the best part, but I certainly look forward to seeing them. I hate it when they only do three or four. The theater I usually go to it's not uncommon to see 7 or 8. I love it.

I love trailers too. I get upset if I'm late to the movie and miss some trailers. At least I don't bulk up and turn green :P

My local theater gets a buttload of trailers before the actual movie. There is another theater not too far that gets less trailers which is less annoying but we don't go there that often.

In front of Les Miserables

Identity Thief
Safe Haven
The Great Gatsby
Top Gun 3D
OZ: The Great and Powerful
Oblivion

In front of Les Miserables our theater showed:

Jack the Giant Killer

Disney's The Lone Ranger (by the way, this looks absolutely terrible. There are so many things wrong with this I need three or four pages to count all the wrongs. I don't care if Johnny Depp is in it, this movie will not see my money.)

Man of Steel

Before Monsters University:

Viewing #1 (3D)/Viewing #2 (3D)/Viewing #3 (2D)
The LEGO Movie (Surprisingly good, I guess)/DM2/Free Birds (Might check out since Thanksgiving just isn't a well-covered base in movies)
Despicable Me 2 (Must-See)/Smurfs 2/Turbo
The Smurfs 2 (Must-Avoid)/Turbo/Lego
Frozen (Was it really a good idea to show just the comic relief in the teaser? Still, looking forward...)/Lego/Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 (uber-excited)
Turbo (Will Probably Check Out)/Planes/Frozen
Planes (Sunday Matinee, with niece?)/Frozen/Planes

Turbo (definitely will be seeing this)
Frozen (Disney's 53rd animated feature, obviously)
Planes (probably might check this out)

Ahead of Despicable Me 2
In 3D, unless otherwise noted

Ender's Game (2D)
The Boxtrolls (Laika's newest project, will likely end up seeing)
Turbo (Will-See)
R.I.P.D. (Not sure of why this trailer got snuck in, whether I'll see this or not, and how it'll fare against Turbo and Red 2)
Frozen (Must-See)
The Smurfs 2 (?)

Also, since my local theatre is Cinemark-owned, it's worth mentioning the next six films in their weekly classic series are real winners. They are, in order of presentation, Grease (Sing-Along), Back to the Future, Animal House, American Graffiti, Ghostbusters, and Dirty Dancing.
