In front of How to Train Your Dragon 2 (which I liked as much as the first- in that, this is probably my favorite animated Dreamworks film)

Earth to Echo (At least I think this is the film in question? Shows you what little impact the trailer left on me.)
Home (I like seeing a little bit of diversity in my animation, but I'm not too sold on this yet. I'm getting too much of a Lilo & Stitch meets Invader Zim with less of the wit vibe so far, and Rihanna just doesn't seem that strong of a voice actress. I'd be pleased to be surprised, though!)
Book of Life (This looks really colorful and rather creative... but did they really need to use a Biz Markie song? I'd think that del Toro would know better, but I'm still interested.)

Catching up from the last few weeks...

In front of A Brony Tale (Another Seattle festival entry; strictly about the fans, for the fans)
Burt's Buzz (Doc on the founder/spokesperson of Burt's Bees; Might give it a shot)
Longwave (Belgian/Portuguese comedy; See below)

I Am Big Bird: The Carroll Spinney Story (Quite possibly the top fave out of my festival six)
Once Upon a Forest (The newest in an ongoing trend of transcendental French docs; Would like to know more)
Burt's Buzz (See Above)

Edge of Tomorrow (Preview; As satisfying as it was utterly hilarious): Naught

Maleficent (A slight improvement from Oz, though just not matching Alice)
[in 3D, unless otherwise noted]
Get On Up [2D] (After Jersey Boys underwhelmed, I'm more anticipating this potential gem; Must-See)
Transformers: Age of Extinction (Personally I'd like my action/adventure with some intellect; No Interest)
Jupiter Ascending (Now that its release date's been bumped to next February, I'm sure my interest is at all-time... LOW; still)
The Book of Life (What Birds?; What a dramatic change from generic time-travel flick to something with actual meaning/purpose, granted that could just be the more visionary director, with Del Toro's guidance; Must-See)
Big Hero 6 (Given how Disney marketed Frozen, it should come as no surprise they're giving as slow a buildup as possible. It's worked before, and I'm sure it can work again. Just don't expect an Oscar win. Must-See, duh)
Guardians of the Galaxy (Must-See; As the launchpad for a new potential Marvel franchise, this one's too big to fail; Combined with Planes and 100-Foot Journey opening around it, I could say the same for the studio overall)

A Million Ways to Die in the West (A solid follow-up to Ted; May it stand as this year's most underrated comedy)
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No-Good, Very Bad Day (Miguel Arteta's long overdue follow-up to Cedar Rapids; Despite being less than faithful to the material, I'm sure this'll surprise me; Worth a shot)
Tammy (Melissa McCarthy's next attempt at summer comic awesomeness; With Aykroyd and Sarandon in her corner, this could be a win; Must-See)
Let's Be Cops (Low-key summer closer for now, but who knows? It might be a surprise fave; Must-See)
22 Jump Street (See Below)
A Walk Among the Tombstones (Liam Neeson's third film for Universal this year; Must be a common record with most actors; No Interest, Yet)
As Above, So Below (Brushing it off as just another late-summer horror bomb; No Interest)

Longwave (My obligatory foreign pick from this year's SIFF; Nothing special, but if tender foreign comedies are your thing, this is up your street)
Not My Type (Hairstylist falls for philosophy professor in this French rom-com; Polar opposites or lucky match? Won't bother to find out)
We Came Together (Just a slide; Promising satire, sure to give it a look when it comes back to town)

To Be Takei (Tied with Big Bird and Dragon for fave title out of SIFF; A satisfying doc for pop culture geeks, etc)
? (left blank; just a slide of dates for a certain film, didn't catch the title)
Garden Lovers (Romantic doc on the Finnish gardening community; No Interest)

How To Train Your Dragon 2 (Special Festival Screening; That is how you build a franchise, one of the biggest standouts of 2014)
? (Left blank; arrived late)
A Hard Day's Night (Was tipped of this happening by the festival rep in attendence; Must-See, because it's The Beatles on the big screen!)

22 Jump Street (Another winning comedy, another major franchise builder)
Transformers: Age of Extinction (New Trailer; See Above, as my opinion remains unchanged)
Let's Be Cops (See Above)
Jersey Boys (See Below)
Dumb and Dumber To (About 15 years late, but I'll accept it; Must-See)
The Interview (Rogen and Franco's next teaming, attempting to kill a disillusioned political leader; I'm intrigued)
Sex Tape (This has most of the makings of a major comic hit; Given how much of a deal Bad Teacher was three years ago, I'd expect nothing less; Must-See)

How to Train Your Dragon 2 (Round #2, standard matinee)
[in 3D, unless otherwise noted]
Paddington [2D] (While this could be a major star vehicle for the Earl of Grantham, I'm sure I won't bother unless they find someone as unique as Colin Firth to assume the title role; No Interest, yet)
Earth to Echo [2D] (E.T. meets Paranormal Activity; Results should be unworthy; No Interest)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2D, despite the film being offered 3D release in certain theatres; I see some potential, but unless I can secure myself a pass, I'll pass)
The Boxtrolls (Frankly the new UK trailer got the point across a little better; Tom Kane's VO (Light Epic) registered a bit annoying. Versatile as he is, there are only certain sides of his range I could handle; Must-See)
Home (Here Kane's voice (Playful Audiobook Narrator) has more to work with, thus better suited; As for the film itself, while I may not be sure about Rihanna, I'm more looking forward to hearing Jim Parsons in what may be his most comfortable role beyond Big Bang; Must-See)
The Penguins of Madagascar (I could understand Dreamworks swapping dates with Home to save face in what has been their most unlucky year yet; I'll give it a shot)

An early preview of Jersey Boys (A bit clunky and uneven; still Eastwood captures the period, sound and fury all at once with little effort)
If I Stay (Still confused as to what genre this might belong to; No Interest)
This is Where I Leave You (Shaun Levy's newest; Already this looks a million miles improved from The Internship; Must-See)

Ernest and Celestine [In a smaller theater, original French]
A Hard Day's Night (See Above)
Stop Making Sense (Literally the best concert film ever made; playing in Seattle in August, will check out)
Fantastic Mr. Fox (Playing as part of a series involving the films of both Wes and Paul Thomas; this one I'll skip)

And from an early preview of Tammy (Slightly underwhelming, but it's sure to find a solid audience)
This is Where I Leave You (See Above)
Into the Storm (Still finding this to be beyond generic; Only if I can get in for free)

Oh, Home is the Jim Parsons movie? I'll change that to a definite no interest.

That man is the death of comedy.

In front of "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" in 3D (once again, half the trailers were in 2D, the other half in 3D):

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 (in 2D)
Gone Girl (in 2D)
Lucy (in 2D)
Exodus: Gods and Kings (in 3D)
Sin City: A Dame To Die For (in 3D)

I didn't even see the earlier "Planet of the Apes" before (I think it was "Rise...").

Before Guardians of the Galaxy (another home run for the MCU- I'd say that phase 2 is better than the first, unless Age of Ultron ends up sucking)

Dumb and Dumber To (I remember watching the first a couple of times as a kid. It was fine for me back then, but I don't think this looks any good to my older self.)
Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (Meh, I watched about half of the first with my little sister years ago, and it did nothing for me. I never had a desire to see any more since.)
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (I read this story when I was a kid, and y'no, I don't remember the rest of the family having a bad day, just Alex. Then again, the original story didn't have Steve Carrell...)

In front of Guardians of the Galaxy (Saw it on Wednesday. It was pretty fun.)

1.The Giver (Not interested given the mediocre ratings)
2.Interstellar (Not interested in this one either)
3.The Hunger Games Mockingjay: Part I (I read the books but I never really paid attention to the movies)
4.The Hobbit The Battle of the Five Armies (I still hate the idea of making three long movies out of one freaking book)
5.Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb (The first one was amusing, but I didn't see the second one so I'll skip this)
6.Big Hero 6 (I may rent this when it comes out.)
