Casino Royale a Book First?

Post by Disney Duster »

Everyone's saying Casino Royale was a book-to-film adaptation. But I thought it was merely a remake of the first Casino Royale Bond film. Bond's movies have been based on books this whole time?

Yes. Most of the Bond films have been based on novels. The only ones that haven't are Roger Moore's final one (A View to Kill), both Timothy Dalton films, and all of Pierce Brosnan's. That's why people have been going gaga over Casino Royale. Not only is it the first Bond film based on a novel in over a decade, but Casino Royale's actually the first book in the series. It was the only book left to be adapted into an official Bond film (I say official because Casino Royale was done as both a 50s TV special and 60s spoof with Peter Sellers). Now that that book's been adapted, all Bond films from here on out will be original unless they remake one of the older ones.

Disneykid, thank you for answering me, no one else did and I'd been waiting a while! And I got a more thorough answer than I anticipated, so that was really nice! Thanks! Now I'm much more knowledgable about Bond.

Just Myself, I have moved all your revised votes into your original post, which now reflects your most recent votes, and deleted the subsequent ones. It will make the counting much easier if everyone keeps their nominations to just one post.
