I very much doubt it. I don't live in the UK. :)
Sorry Billy I assumed you did. You always seem to be commenting on UK DVD releases.

Can I ask where are you located?

i havent seen it, from what i've seen it looks better than moulin rouge. what do you think?

That's because I order most of my DVDs online from the UK. But, I'm actually quite impressed you have thought me British. I wouldn't mind being British, you know. ;)

You may. I'm from Finland.

And, MMBoy, I preferred Chicago over Moulin Rouge. I like both of them, but I'm actually a huge fan of many of the classic Hollywood musicals from the 60's, and Chicago is a little more traditional.

I love both Chicago and Moulin Rouge, but in my opinion Chicago's MUCH better because, to me, it's more sophisticated than MR plus I'm a huge jazz fan, which makes me love Chicago's soundtrack more than MR. As for plot, I honestly can't tell you, MMBoy, whether or not you'll like Chicago more due to plot because unlike most musicals, the songs don't really push the story forward as much as the story pushes the songs forward. But still, the numbers in Chicago are much more grand than MR's. Chicago's one of those movies you can watch with the sound off and still enjoy it, or listen with the picture gone and still enjoy it. I can't say the same for Moulin Rouge. So...Watch Chicago. :p

The feature has just been passed by the BBFC as a 12 certificate for home video. Therefore I it's 99.9% certain the home release will have the 6 second cuts from the UK cinematic showing.

However a commentary has been passed, so it looks like that is on the UK disc despite some Internet concerns.

gasp!

heh...

I don't want to get into a whole Moulin Rouge v Chicago, but I enjoyed the former waaaaay more than the latter for the very reasons you mention.

Chicago was a very traditional musical, and played out like a filmed stage play. That isn't always a bad thing, but at least (in my my anyways), Moulin had something extra for a film-going audience (as opposed to a theatre audience). It embodied cinema traditions from around the world - most obviously Bollywood (but not the length of a Bollywood picture :D - plus it still maintained that connection to old Hollywood at the same time.

Mind you, I'm biased, as I love everything Baz Luhrmann does....

Anyways, completely off-topic, just thought I'd comment on the films...

I went and bought the UK release after all. As I was watching it, I tried to figure out what, if anything, was edited...
SO, is the intro to "All That Jazz" originally shorter in the film than on the soundtrack CD? (On the UK DVD it is.) If not, then they edited the scene where Velma is changing into her costume for that song... Don't really understand why they would edit it, but it's the only scene where I noticed something missing. Oh, and the UK release does not have an insert.
