Which TV Shows Do You Have On DVD?

Post by AwallaceUNC »

A few searches didn't turn up any evidence of such a thread before, and I think it might be fun. Which TV shows, Disney or otherwise, do you own on DVD thus far? Feel free to update us as you aquire new ones.

TV shows on DVD has become my latest fascination in DVD collecting. I love that you can own your favorite TV shows in their entirety, and I've always been a bit of a TV buff. So far I have:

Friends (Seasons 1-8 )
Boy Meets World (Seasons 1-2)
Golden Girls (Season 1)
Star Trek: The Next Generation (only Season 1... they are just so expensive!)
The Mickey Mouse Club (Week 1)
Just Shoot Me (Seasons 1-2)
Seinfeld (Seasons 1-2 & Best Buy bonus DVD)
Road To Avonlea (Seasons 1-3)
Touched By An Angel (Season 1)
Everwood (Season 1)
227 (Season 1)
Primetime Glick (Best Of)
Dark Angel (Season 1)
The Simpsons (Seasons 1-4 and three seasonal discs)
Saturday Night Live (Best of Will Ferrel Volumes 1-2)
The 10th Kingdom (Complete Mini-Series)
The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns (Complete Mini-Series)
Malcolm In The Middle (Season 1)
Disneyland (Tomorrowland segments)

...And a NBC sampler DVD and of course most of Amy Grant's television appearances . There are many more on my wish list, though.

Not many at all . . .

Boy Meets World: Season 1
Disneyland (DLand USA & Tomorrowland sets)
Mickey Mouse Club (Week One set)

I find that TV sets are my least watched DVDs, and considering that they are generally highly priced, I tend not to buy them. And most of my all-time favorite shows that I would purchase haven't been released yet.

Just before you posted that, I was ploughing my way through TVShowsonDVD.com :)

Yes, I've recently been finding myself buying more and more TV on DVD, finding it much easier to sit down and watch 30-45 episodes than it is to watch a 90+ film. It may seem like I have a short attention span (which may be true), but I also have a limited amount of time to watch things.

I'm going to write a column this week on DVDBits about the "New Way to Watch TV". I think more people will miss episodes and "wait for the DVD" (especially with HBO-style shows, where they have a definite arc to the series) or catch up on classic series that way. I have pretty much given up any hope of our Channel 9 screening Voyager (yes, they are still showing new episodes) or Enterprise (a whole year behind - they just started screening Season 3!) in any reasonable order, or at all. I have decided, instead, to wait for the inevitable DVD release of Enterprise (which is now only a few months away), and I will be all caught up by Christmas this year with any luck.

I've recently started really concentrating on my "TV Collection" (see my recent entries in the New DVD thread), and I tend to request TV shows through DVDBits now when I do my reviewing. I did Law & Order: Criminal Intent (S1) and Curb Your Enthusiam (S2) most recently. I just got sent Dallas (S1 & 2), so I'm in for the long haul :P

I'll post a complete list when I get home.

"Gargoyles" season 1 and "Family Guy" season 3. Yep, that's it.

Though at the moment I'm trying to pick up all the "Sex and the City" seasons for a decent price.

I too love TV on DVD, though because of the cost I'm now trying not to get into anymore TV shows. Right now I own...

24: Seasons 1 & 2
Alias: Seasons 1-3
Batman The Animated Series: Volume 1
Samurai Jack: Season 1
Smallville: Seasons 1-3
Spongebob Squarepants: Seasons 1 & 2

So yes I've found myself hating the fact that whenever I buy one season of a show, I have alot of trouble keeping myself from buying subsequent seasons and end up spending a whole lot more money than I probably should. Especially since I'm really supposed to be saving money for a car. :P So yeah that's about it. And wow some of you guys have a whole lot of TV DVDs....

Triple J - your tastes are becoming scarily similar to mine.

The news that the Rockford Files is coming out will please my girlfriend's dad no end, as he was asking me about it on the weekend.

I'm also tempted to get Miami Vice, Simon and Simon, Remington Steele (and of course, more Magnum P.I. when it comes out). I seem to have a fixation with the 1980s when it comes to TV on DVD purchases (they are the most fun, anyway).

However, Star Trek: Enterprise; Star Trek: The Animated Series and Star Wars: Clone Wars also float my boat, as well as some of the animated series like Superman and Harvey Birdman etc.

Murder One and Deadwood might get a look-in, but aren't on the top of my list.

Only a few:

King of the Hill Seasons 1 & 2

The Dukes of Hazzard season 1

Disney Treasures (Tomorrowland) & (Disneyland) if they count?
