I heard about the 50% off sale, but I just don't have any money! A total bummer. Some of the ones I'm itching to own: Il Posto, Hoop Dreams, Chungking Express Blu-Ray, The 400 Blows, The Bicycle Thieves, The Passion of Joan of Arc, Shimizu box set, and a bunch of Ozu films. And basically anything from East Asia--I want it.

Is it on the same level as The Only Son, or perhaps better?
Actually, I haven't seen any Ozu films. At the time of that post, Criterion had just released two-movie box set and I was interested in it based on the reviews I had read. I hoped I'd buy it as my introductory movies into his works. But I decided instead to continue with 1940s Powell & Pressburger before I move on to another director, so he's taken a backseat until after I acquire Contraband, One of Our Aircraft is Missing, and The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp as that'd complete 1940s P&P. Then I'd move on to Ozu (hopefully by July and the next 50% off sale) and pick up the two-film set as well as the two Eclipse sets before moving on to some of the singular titles Criterion's released, like Tokyo Story and Late Spring.

Is anyone else looking forward to "Senso"? I've heard great things about it... And I've just ordered "Lola Montés" from the UK.

I read that the sale starts on July 12th this year. I read it on IMDb, and they didn't provide a source, but the date seems accurate.

I still haven't been able to take advantage of this sale, but I'm gonna try this year!

Darn! Wish I hadn't been laid off. Otherwise, I would take up on this deal.
