Created by and starring Howie Mandel, this animated series takes a wild ride inside the mind of young Bobby Generic. Bobby is not your typical suburban kid. His active imagination takes viewers into a world of daring adventure, incredible wonder, and lots of laughs, all in a pint size perspective.
Back in 2004, Anchor Bay released The Best of Bobby's World - Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 in stores, each sporting 5 episodes of the classic 1990 series starring Howie Mandel. Fans have longed for the rest of the show, however, and now the folks who currently own the show, Moonscoop, are working with Amazon's CreateSpace manufacture-on-demand (MOD) program to provide all 80 episodes on DVD!
The show ran for 8 years, and although it was technically 8 different seasons, one of the later seasons was extremely short and adjacent to a somewhat short season, so those two are being combined for DVD purposes. Amazon.com, where these will be exclusively available, has pre-order listings for Bobby's World - Season 1 through Season 7 (see button link below), with each of the seven season sets being sold separately for $19.99 each, as a 2- or 3-disc set (mostly 3). Each of the seven titles has the same cover art, just with the season set number changed (see the Season 1 box front below). After all the separate season sets are released, Moonscoop plans to make a complete series set available at some point.
Amazon.com's pre-order listings don't currently show a release date; they all merely say "This title has not yet been released. You may pre-order it now and we will deliver it to you when it arrives." We spoke to Moonscoop, however, and were told that they expect the first release to be available in the first quarter of the new year (sometime in the January to March timeframe), and that they will make the other titles available as each one is ready. Each will be a bare-bones release with no bonus material, but you will get the episodes as originally broadcast...complete with Howie's live-action sequences! This is great news, and we're grateful to one of our readers, "Brad", for being the first to tip us off about it this morning. Stay tuned for updates!
I would love to see this show again. I wouldn't be averse to getting a set (a real set) if they'd put one out. MOD... I don't like DVD-R's. I really don't. So, I'll probably say no to getting this. I'd prefer it if the show came to Netflix: Watch Instant.
I haven't thought of this show in many years. As a kid, I didn't watch much of it because I was captivated by other cartoon shows that were (still are) favorites. I think I'll revisit this show.
I remember watching this on FOX Kids and I even used to own a VHS tape of the show and I watched it a lot (much to the dismay of the rest of my family). However, This is one show from my childhood I'd rather NOT relive. The animation is awful, and the voices are annoying, this is from the last time I watched a clip of it on Youtube that is.
Yeah, I think most of us saw it on Fox Kids too. For me and my friends though, we'd probably like to see the show again. I HAVE to see that traveling song again. Here's all I remember: "We're goin', we're goin', we're goin' on a trip. Train, plane, or taxi cab- all the choices hip!"
