THE PARENT TRAP
2 MOVIE COLLECTION DVD

BURBANK, Calif., June 13, 2005 – Walt Disney Home Entertainment presents THE PARENT TRAP - 2
MOVIE COLLECTION, a 2-disc DVD which features Disney’s original 1961 classic THE PARENT TRAP and
the sequel movie THE PARENT TRAP II, first time ever on DVD. This delightful double feature DVD of family
fun stars Disney legend Hayley Mills and is available on September 27 for $19.99 (S.R.P.)

THE PARENT TRAP:
What could be better than one Hayley Mills? How about two? Academy Award®* winning actress Hayley Mills
(“Pollyanna”) shines playing twin daughters of a divorced couple (Brian Keith and Maureen O’Hara). The girls,
who have long been separated, meet accidentally for the first time at summer camp. After discovering they are
long-lost twin sisters, the two concoct an outrageous scheme to switch places in an effort to get their parents back
together. In her dual role, Mills moves from slapstick to serious, refined to rock ‘n’ roll. Her delightful
performance, coupled with a charming story, will capture your heart and have you doubling up with laughter.

From the book by Erich Kastner. Written and directed by David Swift.

THE PARENT TRAP II:
First time on DVD! In the full-length sequel THE PARENT TRAP II, Hayley Mills returns to reprise her roles as
identical twins Sharon and Susan. Now all grown up, Sharon is a single mom whose 11- year-old daughter Nikki is
just as mischievous as she was! During summer school Nikki and her new friend Mary turn into scheming
matchmakers when they try to get Sharon and Mary’s widowed father together. Not quite able to make it happen,
they turn to the one person who can really help — Sharon’s twin Susan!

Cast: Hayley Mills, Tom Skerritt, Carrie Kei Heim, Bridgette Andersen.
Written by Stuart Krieger. Directed by Ronald F. Maxwell.

I don't know if I'll get it or not. I'll probably just watch the tapes we have of these movies.

Hey, did anyone think to ask if the original Parent Trap being packaged in this 2-pack/double feature is going to be the same special Vault edition as it is in the single-disc edition? Because I haven't bought that Parent Trap Vault edition yet. But I want to. So, this is an ideal package for me because I adored the Parent Trap II.

I just wrote to Disney asking that question. I post the reply when I get an answer.

While I am thoroughly enjoyed that Parent Trap II is coming on DVD, I'm rather insulted at the same time. The Parent Trap has been available for what, four years now? And rather than do release on its own of Parent Trap II, they stick it together with a single-disc economy version of Parent Trap. So for someone who's had the 2-disc for a couple years now, I'll be buying this 2-movie set solely for Parent Trap II, and then I'll have a useless extra copy of the first.

But I agree with others, that there should also be a 2-movie collection of Parent Trap III and Hawaiian Honeymoon.

In all fairness, though, if The Parent Trap II were released on its own, it most likely would have carried the same SRP ($19.99) as other catalogue debuts. So think of The Parent Trap and extra disc as a nice free bonus. Yes, releasing the third and fourth movies too would have made sense. But let's see the bright side, a 19-year-old movie never before released to home video in the US, comes to DVD for the first time and has the superior original film with it too on a 2-disc set! Can Mr. Boogedy be too far off?!

Then you lost all the special features that the Vault Disney edition had, because it looks as if the version of The Parent Trap included in this set is movie-only; no extras whatsoever.

Im glad the set has all the extras (but the audio commentary) and TM2-Megatron was wrong :P (look above)
.My perents have the old disc but I wanted my own copy and if I want the commentary I'll watch theres but mine will have an extra movie :D .Also the cover art is beter too with it focusing on the twins when the other one althou called The Parent Trap does not center around the Parents (and that look in there eyes almost looks gone with the wind-y and much to romantic for a film like this). With this 2 pack stuff going on I'm also glad we waited for the Old Yeller films :) .

I'm also annoyed (as Escapay stated) that they aren't releasing Parent Trap II on it's own. But Luke does make a very good point about the price. If this was going to be a $30 or $35 set, then I'd be REALLY mad.

I've got the Vault Disney 4 pack collection so there is no way I'd get rid of my original Parent Trap. Plus the bonus features are ridiculous on that version.

I guess I'll just be buying the set of 2.

How are they ridiculous?

Like Luke says, it's probably best to see this as just a release of the sequel. Still, I'm going to be tempted to get rid of my Vault Disney DVD whenever almost all of the same content is on this other disc. I could almost do that with no worries (assuming there isn't a big drop-off in quality, which there might be), but the audio commentary won't be included.

The Parent Trap is one of two 2-Disc Vault Disney DVDs that I own (the other being Pollyana). I've had the DVD for a long time, but it's been even longer since I've seen the movie, and I haven't gone through any of the features yet. I do like the movie, but I'm not a huge fan. Decisions, decisions, decisions... I'll just have to wait for the review! :D

"Ridiculous" as in there are a lot of them- an entire extra disc and commentary.

Although I had just glazed over the press release the first time and didn't realize that there is a good amount of extras on this upcoming set as well. Not all of what the vault disney version has, but a good chunk of it.

I'll be holding on to my Vault Disney version no matter what, just because I can't break up my set. :)

Yeah, if I had all four of them, I'd probably feel the same.

Also, I've seen your username and avatar plenty of times, but for some reason I never processed it until now... very cool!

In my opinion, this is really stinky marketing. To recycle an already fabulous "Vault Disney" package and try to get people to double-dip and buy the exact same thing again because it's the only way you can get the sequel PTII. I would have no problem if they put this out along side a very economical single disc of Parent Trap II as well. That way people who already own the Vault Disney version could get the sequel and not duplicate what they already have, and the all-in-one package would work for people who had not yet puchased the earlier edition. After all if they can offer this new all-in-one package for only $19.99 srp, they should be able to offer a sigle disc of Parent Trap II for $12.99 srp, don't you think?
