Checking in on this thread has really got me suprized on how many views it has got on it... there MUST be some people interested in his stuff lol , maybe the Studio Ghibli fans are the strong silent type lol... just like Totoro lol
Here's your explanation: http://www.nausicaa.net
The link is in the news item from November 10, 2004.
I can't wait until these movies are finally released on DVD. I was so looking forward to the original release date since it was on my birthday and I was going to go out and buy all three and watch them and have one great birthday. Too bad things changed... I haven't gotten over that.
I wish they put more effort into these DVDs. They did okay for the first wave but I enjoyed those movies so much I was really disappointed with the special features and while the packing is okay I wish they had something other than the standard amaray case.
For my favourites I would love a giftset even if it probably wouldn't be a hot seller with the average buyer. I could always dream of a DVD gift set with the DVD in a slipcase or more interesting packaging, an insert card with the original Japanese movie poster, film stills, film art, a book, the soundtrack and a disc loaded with features. I rank Miyzaki's Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky and Spirited Away as my top three animated movies (although no specific order).
I worry about getting this wave of DVDs and getting home and finding out they cheaped out on it like the latest wave of Treasures. They can save a buck and still get people buying them although everyone will be pissed off.
I was thinking, and maybe Wave 2 is supposed to get released around the same time as when Howl's Moving Castle is supposed to be released in theatres? That would be very cool.
Wave 3 would then be probably released with Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Whisper of the Heart. Wave 4 would be finishing off the collection with Pom Poko, Only Yesterday, and My Neighbor the Yamadas. Hopefully Disney would acquire the rights to Ocean Waves and On Your Mark.

Does anyone know the new release dates for the Ghibli films? as It was supposed to be 22feb2005. I joined a petition as apparently disney have decided not even to release these films at all! I would just buy the japanese versions but I would rather have these english dubs.Supposedly disney have dubbed them but are reluctant to release them now. these films should just be released, who cares about special covers.Just release them!!

As far as we know, the Ghibli films are due February 22. Welcome to the forum!

Well Frank and Ollie and the Walt movie are fascinating historical documents and well worth watching neither is anywhere near as good as Nausicaa. Really a must watch.

According to Buena Vista's VP of brand marketing....
MacPherson told Video Store Magazine three more Studio Ghibli titles will be released together later in 2005. Buena Vista didn’t want to release too many Miyazaki titles at once because “we wanted to wait until the market was a bit more ready,” MacPherson said.
The highly acclaimed My Neighbor Totoro, Only Yesterday, and Pom Poko will be the other three Studio Ghibli titles released together in 2005, though one may be substituted with Howl’s Moving Castle or Whisper of the Heart.
MacPherson said the next wave of titles will get the same 2-DVD, top voice talent treatment. “That’s our intention. It’s all part of the same strategy,” she said.
