The Lion King DVD Press Release
Yeah, I posted that in International a few months ago. (Not like I expected many to notice...it was the International Forum, for crying aloud.) So clearly "Special Edition" doesn't just refer to the fact that it's a new cut of the film, it refers to the fact that the Disney suits don't want to confuse...um..."families" with nomenclature. So they just heave on everything. Why not call it a Masterpiece Edition too? There's some room there.Jack wrote:It appears they added "2-Disc" to the cover of TLK, along with the S.E. label. As if we didn't have a long enough name.

It looks like we need a Karaoke or CD + Graphics (CD + G) capable machine to watch the on-screen lyrics.Starion wrote: Kmart.com lists "Disney's Karaoke Series: Lion King."
There will be 16 tracks with and without lead vocals. Their will be on-screen lyrics. This is a CD, not a Sing-Along DVD. I guess the CD will run under a PC and Machintosh computer as opposed to a DVD player. Or are we supposed to play the CDs using a Karaoke machine.
Loomis will be filled with "dread and horror" again.
Track listing:
1-8. Instrumentals - Songs without vocals
9. Can You Feel the Love Tonight
10. I Just Can't Wait to Be King
11. Circle of Life
12. Warthog Rhapsody
13. Hakuna Matata
14. Be Prepared
15. He Lives in You
16. Queen of the Jungle

Am I the only one who feels the earth tremble at the words 'Disney Karaoke'?Starion wrote:

I can handle karaoke, like Disney songs, in small doses. The combination of the two just fills me horror....

The DVD was released today here in Brazil, and it does have a DTS track.

I think you need to be a member of the press or a celebrity. My friend works for NPR, but I don't think he has a press pass.Prince Phillip wrote:I would go, but I live clear across the country!
Plus, don't you have to be invited to these sorts of things?
If not, then perhaps I will try to make it to the Aladdin premier!
The press release does say:
CREDENTIALS ARE REQUIRED

TLK
Well, I had the honor of opening the boxes and backstocking TLK at my Disney Store yesterday...and man the box jacket for the dvd is totally awesome! Now the long wait until Tuesday when I can pick up my copy...
One thing I noticed, and I'm not sure if anybody noted this before, but the jacket isn't numbered on the side like how BATB was individually numbered for it and its two sequels.

Re: TLK
Beacuse how would they number them? '1', '2' and '3' or '1', '1 1/2' and '2', or '1', '2' and '1 1/2' ?Danny wrote:One thing I noticed, and I'm not sure if anybody noted this before, but the jacket isn't numbered on the side like how BATB was individually numbered for it and its two sequels.
I prefer the European 1, 2 and 3 numbers myself.
Most of my Blu-ray collection some of my UK discs aren't on their database

Hey Luke, I'm reading your review of "The Lion King", and I think you made a mistake. The "In Memory of Frank Wells" card WAS in the original release (in the REAL original release, and in the fake one too). So, this isn't new.
Oh, I noticed new animation on Scar, when Mufasa, Zazu and the cubs leave the elephant graveyard. In the original version, he doesn't move, while in the new edition, he moves his head to see the lions go.
