Post by Robin Hood »

Do The Disney VHS Tapes Have The Same "Bonus Features" as the Dvds?

Examples:
Mary Poppins 40th Anniversary Reunion
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Platinum Edition "Bonus Features" on Disc 2.

I know they don't contain all of the features but there may be a few short featurettes or like a music video after the movie on both. I really only buy DVDs, so I don't know.

My Snow White tape had a making-of featurette and the fully animated deleted song. I also believe Beauty and the Beast came in 2 tapes, one with director commentaries! I don't know about other movies...

Generally VHS will come with at the most the making of and a music video (if that) and these features are more likely to be on Platinum/Masterpiece editions (Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, et cetera), than the Collection Editions, or older classics VHSs (meaning the earlier releases, they only had trailers on them).

I'm not sure about Mary Poppins though, check the case or ask an assistant in a store if they can check the video in a player for features.

Hope this helps :-)

But, VHS cassettes often have bonus features not on DVD such as:

• Fewer Lines of Resolution
• Degrading Quality with Each Playback
and of course,
• Disney's FastPlay (though this is never officially labeled as such, it's kind of understood)

"Special features" on videos is an oxymoron. The before or after features on a movie aren't all that special:
-original trailer that you can watch online or on a DVD
-short (an hour is rare)making-of featurette
-music video (and some of the ones I've seen on videos were even cut).

I know I'm repeating what others have said. Sorry about that. I'm not sure about Disney videos except on the following:
The Princess Diaries: When it first came out, the video contained a music video of the song "Miracles Happen."
102 Dalmations: Contained another music video, the song and artist are names I have forgotten.

Both of these music videos contained numerous clips from the actual movie while the song was being played.
