Very nice, but I would rather see Collector's Editions of "Lilo & Stitch" and "Treasure Planet". SAVE 2-D ANIMATION!!

Well, I think Pixar, starting with Monsters inc. and the re-release of A Bug's Life, Pixar is wanting to release Collectors Editions from now on! Which is a good thing!

We need both! We need Pixar 2- Disc sets as well as Disney Animated Classic 2- Disc sets, actually live action classic 2 disc sets would also be good, but is there a big enough demand?(For the LA 2DSC)

Yeah, it is great that Pixar supports DVD, but I love Disney, I don't love Pixar. I love traditional animation, I don't love CGI. Don't get me wrong, I think Pixar movies and their technics are great, but since it's mostly their fault traditional animation is the way it is (of course, they didn't want it to be this way), I can't help but feel a little disdain about their films.

Like I said in the other thread, I like the cover art, but where's Nemo? Is it a play on the plot-Nemo's not on the cover so let's watch the film and find him? The UK will probably get a much nicer cover, like they do for everything else (well, almost).

I think the US will get a much nicer cover, too. At least I hope. Most likely without the top copied over from Monsters Inc and WITH Nemo and the Disney DVD logo.

I'd rather they use this poster artwork, no Nemo but just about everyone else:

I don't think Nemo, is that important, I mean he hhad his own thing going on in the movies, but it is really Marvin's story...

I think the existing cover is fine. What do you think it should look like, I know you think it should have Nemo on it, but is it a certain scene you are thinking of?

I still don't see Nemo, but I like that one better than the one of just Marlin, Dory, and Bruce.

Why does Disney have to reuse movie posters as cover art? Look at the Lizzie McGuire Movie-same artwork for the movie poster, soundtrack, and the video/dvd. And the cover that bugs me the most is the Toy Story 2 cover: all it is is a plains white background with Jessie giving a thumbs up while Woody gives Buzz bunny ears, which, not coincidentally (spelling) also stands for the "2" in the title.

I know that cover art is just a small thing (don't judge a book by its cover) but I treasure my Disney collection and I want them to be showcased properly. I don't want ugly, cartoony artwork: I want a cover that reflects the beauty of the animated work inside.

What I'm trying to say is: I WANT THE COVERS THAT THE UK GETS!!!!! (and the Peter Pan Anthology cover from Japan)

France's Peter Pan 2 disc cover is much better than Japan's anthology cover.

One of the reasons the UK got better Disney covers is because they used to release different single and double disc covers for their 2 disc sets. Often the single disc covers would be the same as the US covers, but sometimes the single disc covers are different too.

Now The Lion King is only getting a 2 disc release in the UK. I expect it to have the US cover art.

Do you know anyplace where I could see France's Peter Pan 2 disc cover? Now you've intrigued me.

It's a cardboard digipak with a circle cut out of the front. When the contents are inside the pack, this shows Peter's shadow on the moon. When removed, the inside back cover is revealed in the hole, showing Peter Pan and Wendy standing on the hands of Big Ben. The circle becomes the clock face.

I love that cover so much! Even if it didn't have any other effect with the disc inside. Maybe I'll try to print that out and somehow stick it to my old VHS copy...
OK now I'm being obsessive.

I have the French 2-disc "Peter Pan'", and the coverart/packaging is really classy and creative.

Hey 2099net, I have alread read your review some time ago. I agree with most of your points, but I won't deny I am very happy to have this nice set.
First of all, I just had the "limited issue" version of "Peter Pan", so I don't mind if they borrowed most of the bonus features from the previous SE. Since I had never seen them before, neither have the special DVD, it was a good treat. The audio comentary is quite enjoyable, and the making of is short but very informative.

Yeah, I agree with your point that the galleries should be bigger, but let's consider the fact that this edition was made without the supervision of "the big guys" who make the CEs in the USA (I think...). So, the only source material they had to look at was the original DVD and the laserdisc - and they borrowed material from both.

IMO, although this may be one of the weakest Disney CEs, as you said, we are very luck they released it - after all, we don't know when is the Platinum edition going to be released.
And we also have to consider the fact that some extras may not be included on the PE DVD - for example, I don't know if Disney is going to obtain the rights to release the 1924 film, since it was already released on DVD in the States by some other company (Paramount?). We also don't know if the (great) "Nine Old Men" featurette is going to be included, since it doesn't specifically talk about "Peter Pan".

Maybe if you already have the SE, this 2-disc French edition isn't really worth the price - but let's face it: 2-disc sets are so much better than standard releases, even if they aren't that different from one another.
