Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. You're right - not available. I guess I'm going to have to add it to my list of DVD's I would buy in a second if they would just release them. Right now I have only four things on that list: The Smurfs entire series, Judging Amy, Song of the South, and Michael Jackson's Moonwalker.

I have this Disney Trivia game and one of the questions on it would be what film was Disney's Jungle Cruise ride made after and it was The African Queen, why would they then go ahead and base the film off a ride based on another film? I know the ride could apply to many different things and the movies don't have to be related at all but still.

The Walt Disney Studios is excited to be in development with Mandeville Films and writer Roger S.H. Schulman on a feature film based on the Jungle Cruise, one of the most iconic attractions in Disney theme park history. The film will pair up Tim Allen and Tom Hanks in their first live-action project, after their previous collaborations in the Toy Story trilogy.

So I was reading the weekly Dateline Disneyland update, and at the very end was this little tidbit:

"After Toy Story 3 cracked the billion dollar worldwide gross mark and got a Best Picture nomination for Disney, I'm told the studio is making moves to pair stars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen in Jungle Cruise, the live action film inspired by the venerable Magic Kingdom theme park ride. The studio has hired Roger S.H. Schulman to write a script that's being produced by Mandeville's David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman, who themselves are coming off a Best Picture nomination for The Fighter. No director yet, I'm told.

"Schulman has written on such films as Shrek and Jungle Book 2. Disney has been trying to get Jungle Cruise out of dry dock for several years, but the combination of Hanks and Allen in a family film makes this the equivalent of an E-ticket for a family-themed film. Hanks just direct Larry Crowne, starring with Julia Roberts and producing with Playtone partner Gary Goetzman. Hanks also is attached to another family film project based on the Mattel toy Major Matt Mason, which Playtone is also producing at Universal."

Here's the link to the actual article: http://www.deadline.com/2011/03/disney-teaming-toy-story-tandem-tom-hanks-and-tim-allen-for-jungle-cruise/

Not sure what to think of this one. The writing is iffy, and the whole idea seems a little weird to me. I didn't think they'd resurrect this project so soon. I've always been curious as to what kind of movie would actually be made from the Jungle Cruise, but it would have a really great story. If the Jungle Book 2 was one of his most notable credits, this doesn't look too good.

So, what do you guys think?

I can't wait to see this movie's insightful take on the rape of the natural world and the moral and ethical dilemmas of the blood diamond trade!

Just kidding, this is gonna blow.

Well isn't that just great. Of course this is going to be a huge success, since it's pretty undeniable that Tom Hanks and Tim Allen would have great chemistry on the screen. But, I'm done with Jerry Bruckheimer. His films just bore me now, rather than slightly annoy me.

Nicholas Cage Not Acting 2 - Book of Boredom, Talking Rodents Hooked on Diet Pepsi Max, Confessions of a Maxed-Out Credit Card, Prince of <strike>West Hollywood</strike> Persia, even Pirates 2 and 3 weren't all that much to write home about (they weren't bad, but miles away from the first one). He starts to appear more and more like a hack who got lucky. Just like Michael Bay --sans explosions.

EDIT: Oh dammit, Bruckheimer isn't involved... Well, there goes my little rant. It can stay, so I can copy/paste it for the next film he announces.

Er, yeah. I was just about to post a reply saying, "Wait, BRUCKHEIMER'S involved? Where'd you hear that?" when I read your edit. I somehow doubt Tom Hanks would get involved with a Bruckheimer film anyway. Although this one doesn't look too promising either...

A buddy comedy version of The African Queen? That's all I imagine hearing this.

 Don't give Disney ideas! One of them could read this, and think, in his/her judgment-impaired way, that Eddie Murphy would be simply brilliant as the tribal chief. And then I'd hate you for the rest of my life. Not really, but I'd never forgive you.

Well knowing it's a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, there will definitely be a hot native girl who (inexplicably) falls for the male lead. In this case I have no opinion on whether Tom or Tim is a better match, as they are both not in their...prime.

I am very open to the idea of this. Buzz and Woody in live-action roles sounds promising. So long as the move doesn't take itself too seriously (I mean, look at the ride it's being based on), I think it could be a lot of fun.

Sounds like an odd idea, it worked for Pirates but Haunted Mansion was ok.

Dwayne Johnson's 'Jungle Cruise' Is a Go at Disney (Exclusive)

Quote:
The actor has closed a deal to star in Jungle Cruise, Disney’s live-action adaptation of its iconic theme park ride. Johnson has found room in his busy schedule, slotting the movie in for a spring 2018 start of production.

Johnson will also produce the adventure project with Dany Garcia, the co-CEO of the duo’s Seven Bucks Productions banner and who counts Baywatch, Ballers and the Jumanji re-imagining among her credits for 2017.
