Father of the Bride (2nd Remake)

Post by Sotiris »

A second remake of Father of the Bride is in the works for Disney's streaming service.
The Disney brand extension is expected to make a heavy push into film with an eye on Disney's robust library of family titles. The Parent Trap (1998), Father of the Bride (1991) and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) are among the first projects on the table for potential film reboots, sources say.

Disney's remake must have been shelved because now Warner Bros. is developing their own.

Not necessarily. Warmer Bros owns the rights to the 1950s version, while Disney owns the rights to the '90s movies. Maybe they both have the rights to develop new movies based on "Father of the Bride." Would probably depend on the fine print of how the rights are sorted. It's not unusual for competing studios to make movies based on the same property. Just recently, two different studios have started developing competing movies based on Buck Rogers.
