Hotel Transylvania series on Disney Channel

Sony Pictures Animation has licensed its TV treatment of the Hotel Transylvania movie to Disney Channel internationally, including the U.S. market.

The global deal will see Disney Channel take the broadcast and on-demand rights for the animated series produced in Toronto by Nelvana Enterprises. Disney nabbed Hotel Transylvania: The Television series for platforms in the U.S., Europe (excluding Germany), Latin America, Australia/New Zealand, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Don't get me wrong, it's not too bad of an idea. A TV series.

theyll make a tv series for a rival animation company but they wont make a friggin X-men series(which they hold the animation rights to.) Gahhh!

Disney isn't making the show, Nelvana is. Disney Channel is just airing it. It's like how Gotham, a WB show based on DC character, airs on the Fox Network. Or Modern Family, which is a Fox-produced show, airing on ABC.

Also, Sony doesn't have a channel for family programming they can air a Hotel Transylvania show on. So it was either going to Viacom-owned Nickelodeon, Time Warner-owned Cartoon Network or Disney Channel. Maybe if The Hub was still a thing, it could have ended up on there. When they initially announced this show, I did think it would go to CN, what with the Genndy Tartakovsky connection.
