There are already plans for a sequel.

With Disney Descendants coming out next year, they hope they will have a new franchise for the channel. According to Josh [Silverman], the plan is to keep that property alive with short form content until a sequel to the yet to air film will be broadcast the following year.

Well, they already showed Facilier's daughter, Freddie, in animated form. They'll probably show the rest of them; if not in the sequel then in the animated shorts.

Update on the sequel.

The project, which had been in development, will premiere in summer, 2017 with China Anne McClain joining the main cast as Uma, the daughter of The Little Mermaid‘s big bad Ursula. She joins returning cast members Dove Cameron, Cameron Boyce, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson as the children of Maleficent, Cruella DeVille, Jafar, and The Evil Queen, and Mitchell Hope as the son of Belle and The Beast. Further new casting will be announced in the coming weeks including for the children of villains Captain Hook and Gaston.

Oh yay. I wonder they will butcher Urusla, Hook, and Gaston. And shouldn't she be Facilier's daughter since she voiced her?

I only like this franchise for the dolls and the shorts. Id like them to have Hades kid but then theyd probably avoid that b/c it opens up the possibility of there being gods and making thing too complicated.

How interesting! I wonder how Drizella and her duaghter will be. Though unfortunately we never saw Cindy or Charming but we saw their asshole son. I also wonder if we'll see Lady Tremaine. And isn't it great she "married Drizella off"!

When the pressure to be royally perfect becomes too much for Mal, she returns to her rotten roots on the Isle of the Lost where her archenemy Uma, the daughter of Ursula, has taken her spot as self-proclaimed queen of the run-down town. Uma, still resentful over not being selected by Ben to go to Auradon Prep with the other Villain Kids, stirs her pirate gang—including Captain Hook's son Harry and Gaston's son Gil—to break the barrier between the Isle of the Lost and Auradon, and unleash all the villains imprisoned on the Isle, once and for all. When Ben realizes Mal has left Auradon, he decides to go after her. Mal's friends—Carlos, Evie and Jay—decide to go with him to help, but first they have to teach him their wicked ways so he can sneak around the Isle of the Lost without being recognized.

The plot for this sounds great, the execution of the Disney characters will be awful like the first one.
