Could this be an Anastasia reference? The girl in the foreground wears an outfit like Anastasia's dress waltz dress.

^do you mean Fox's Anastasia? I dont see it. I know cuz I have that waltz doll and I love that dress. :P

well I finally caught up with all the eps and whoa has this show gotten intense or what!? I love that they're allowing some darker story aspects into this, reminds me of the darker eps of Aladdin.

And I'm loving Varian, love how he flips from cute dorky little guy to complete asshat with a grudge. Its great!

Yay, that means new songs! I can't believe we've already reached the season finale!
The first season has been shorter than they announced, hasn't it? They said there would be 27 episodes and there have been only 22, or do the one-hour episodes count as two?

I know that other Disney animated TV shows do count hour-long episodes as two in terms of production order. I assume the same applies to Tangled.

OK, then that would make 25 episodes, which is closer to what they said.

The original name of this episode was going to be 'Rapunzel and the fate of Corona'. Source: https://twitter.com/TomCaulfield01/stat ... 3766346752

Yeah, the volume was indeed too low. It was hard to understand the lyrics. Here's another recording which is slightly better: http://tangledbea.tumblr.com/post/16944 ... o-for-read

Two more clips from the one-hour special:

And here are the lyrics for the two songs:

I like both songs, but my favorite is "Set Yourself Free". I think I like it almost as much as "Wind in my Hair". "Ready As I’ll Ever Be" reminds me a bit of "The Bells of Notre Dame" from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, though it's different enough from it.

Thanks for posting the full songs. Both of them are great. I'm hoping there'll be a reprise of one of them in the season finale like there was in the pilot and the midseason finale.

It reminds me more of the Savages reprise from Pocahontas, though admittedly not as good.

This was a really good season finale. It paved the way for the second season smoothly. I'm curious to find out more about the secret of the rocks and where they are taking Rapunzel, as well as the identity of the anonymous person at the end of the episode (who I expect is the same person at the end of the movie). I loved the song where everyone was singing when they were going towards battle, Ready as I'll ever be. Very epic!

And haha that Belle dress cameo.

I really liked it too. It was very thrilling, way better than the midseason finale. What was revealed about the mystery of the rocks was quite satisfying and I liked all the references to the film, like the lanterns, the secret tunnels, etc. It seems in season 2 Rapunzel's adventures will take place outside Corona. It will be interesting to see what new characters and places they'll find on their journey.

Yes, that was great. I also laughed when Shorty began to sing Rapunzel's song.

It reminds me more of the Savages reprise from Pocahontas, though admittedly not as good.
I also thought of Savages when I first listened to it, and yes, it has actually more similarities with it: it's an ensemble song, the characters are heading to war, a chorus is featured... But musically, some moments, like the chorus, also reminded me of "The Bells of Notre Dame", though only a bit.

I'm glad the digital album includes all the songs and reprises. Speaking of that, finally there wasn't a reprise in the season finale.

My blood is boiling cause the stones weren't destroyed and the guy in the yellow crystal wasn't freed. Should have sent Cassandra to the convent cause that would have put an end to her cross dressing. She shouldn't be wearing a top that is ripped around the bottom.

I thought the finale was a little disappointing. They didn't really explain the mythology around the sun drop and the moon drop and their interconnection, we didn't learn what Varian's father wrote in that piece of paper, and it wasn't made clear whether the rocks will now stop growing on their own. Is the kingdom still in danger of getting destroyed by the rocks or not? If Rapunzel can control them now why doesn't she remove them? And the whole thing with the rocks suddenly becoming arrows she has to follow was a bit silly of an idea.

There was a lot of teasing throughout the season but not much of a payoff. Hoping season 2 will be better at giving at least some answers so we won't have to wait until the series finale to get them.

Yep, that's pretty clear now.

I believe this is the second Beauty and the Beast reference they've done.
D82 wrote:Speaking of that, finally there wasn't a reprise in the season finale.
I contacted the lyricist about that. Here's what he had to say.
Q: How come there won't be a reprise of one of the two songs in the season finale like there was in the other hour-long episodes (pilot and midseason finale)?

Glenn Slater: There was a LOT of plot to work through for the finale, so -- basically, not enough time. Not to worry, plenty of new music for next season! And we're about to get started on the songs for Season 3.
Source: https://twitter.com/SlaterLyrics/status ... 1864390656

Also, Glenn hinted at a Jeremy Jordan/Eden Espinosa duet in the future.
Jeremy Jordan: More musical goodness from Tangled! And look! We're once step closer to that promised duet, Eden Espinosa!!

Glenn Slater: Two of my favorite voices to write for, ever. Hope that a Jeremy Jordan/Eden Espinosa duet is coming up soon *peeks ahead in script*...
