Found this on Facebook today. After years of being a Disney Movie Club exclusive, Ducktales The Movie will be getting a retail release!:

They're also giving the half-hour Goof Troop Christmas special Have Yourself a Goofy Little Christmas a retail DVD release.

Why is the Christmas special being released in January though? That doesn't make much sense. Haha

I know that the article is focusing on DuckTales bringing on the DTV craze, but without DuckTales: The Movie, there wouldn't be A Goofy Movie, right!?

Well, that was sad. So it was both responsible for the rise of PIXAR that popularized 3D films and the DTV sequels that conditioned audiences to think hand-drawn animation was not something to see theatrically... I can't say it was worth it, in the end. :( I've never really heard much about the numbers, but 3.5 million to make The Return of Jafar and 100 million take-in (and that's only what it made in the U.S.!)... Well, you can't really blame them with that kind of easy money. It's a shame this film lead to that idea.

Nice article, I liked reading about the history of Disney Channel productions and how stuff came to be. I've never even heard of Fluppy Dogs before. One thing though: I'm not a fan of this movie, but the article kind of places all the blame for what transpired on it -- a random, small, fairly harmless movie -- without ever clearly identifying the actual culprit: Disney and their greed. Nobody twisted their arm into making The Return of Jafar (or DuckTales the Movie for that matter), nobody forced them to greenlight the slew of DTVs that followed, and nobody is stopping them from resurrecting quality hand-drawn animation but themselves.
