Re: Favorite Deleted Song From The Disney Renaissance
I suppose I should say "Human Again" and "Keep 'Em Guessing" are my favorites because they're the only ones I would have liked if they were part of the original films (thankfully "HA" was restored to the film in later versions). But I do like some of the others even if I don't think they'd be good for the movie in question. "POYW (Sad Reprise)," the longer, alternate version of "Fathoms Below," the dark reprise of "Just Around the Riverbend," "Silence is Golden," and the longer version of "Poor Unfortunate Souls" are all songs I like even though I think they were cut for good reasons.
"Proud of Your Boy"'s alright. I was never crazy about any of the Jafar solos even though Jonathan Freeman's great, of course. I think the reason they don't work is because they're more of the "Wasting Away" / "I Want the Good Times Back" stop the story and sing variety, rather than something enmeshed in the story itself like "PUS." I never liked "Someday" until it was used in the musical as a song Esmeralda sings near the end (while she's imprisoned?) before she dies. I only think it works with her dying, because otherwise it feels like overkill since she already has a ballad about how cruel the world currently is in "God Help the Outcasts." I didn't really like "High Adventure" and "Babkak, Omar, Aladdin, Kassim" before the musical, which made me love those two songs (even though I wouldn't want them in the movie either). I didn't know "The Madness of King Scar" was a deleted song for the original film, I thought it was just something for the Broadway show. I always enjoyed that, too.

Listening to most often lately:
Ariana Grande ~ "we can't be friends (wait for your love)"
Ariana Grande ~ "imperfect for you"
Kacey Musgraves ~ "The Architect"
Re: Favorite Deleted Song From The Disney Renaissance
Interesting topic...
Tough choices:
- Top pick would probably be "If I never knew you" cause I think it's the only song that was reinserted into a movie an actually made it better.
- Arabian Nights (reprise #4): this one actually made more sense as a bookend to Aladdin... but the AWNW reprise was actually sweeter, more romantic. I'm glad AN#4 was used in the 3rd movie, it really helped wrap things up (100% honesty: those final moments is the only reason I bought the VHS back in the day... it felt like an ending).
- Proud of your boy: I think it is a beautiful song, but it has no place in Aladdin. Would have killed the pacing.
- Someday is a lovely song, but it's either that or GHTO... you can't have both. I do like the end credits version.
I basically almost-hate Human Again. I never watch the extended edition.
All the other songs... they belong on the cutting room floor, but glad they are available for us to hear.
I want to hear YOUR opinions, Fareb!

I like Human Again, Proud of Your Boy, High Adventure, Someday, As Long As There's a Moon and I Can't Believe My Heart, but I agree with the decision to cut them. I also never watches the special edition of Beauty and the Beast. I Can't Believe My Heart maybe could have been a nice end credits song, but I Won't Say I'm in Love better fits Meg as a character, and works better as part of the music of Hercules.
I think it was a mistake to cut If I Never Knew You, and it's a shame that version doesn't exist on Blu-ray.
I like In a Place of Miracles and I wish it was in the movie instead of A Guy Like You. The reason I prefer it to As Long As There's a Moon is because I think it's too soon for Phoebus and Esmeralda to get married. By the way isn't it weird that the only movie that has a love duet after The Lion King is Tangled?!
I also like Written in Stone and it would have been interesting to see Stephen Schwartz's original treatment for the music for Mulan. They should have brought him back for the remake.

I like the Pocahontas deleted songs the most. Different Drummer but especially In the Middle of the River and First to Dance.

Re: Favorite Deleted Song From The Disney Renaissance
My favourite one is easily "Proud of Your Boy", its my favourite Aladdin song in general. I think Alan Menken revived it somehow with "Make you Proud" for the Tangled Series, also a great song. The original storyline for Aladdin with making his mom proud was also really interesting.
I also love "If I never knew you," would have also been my favourite from the Movie. I can see it getting the Oscar if it would have been in the Movie.
"Call me a princess" is also fun, but i dont think about it too much.
"I cant believe my heart" is also cute but I wont say im in love is so much more superior and fun.
"Keep em guessing" is EXTREMELY catchy! Its funny how it was only cut because Eddie Murphy refused to sing lol.
My least favourite one would be probably "One Dance", it sounds like something out of a mediocre Disney Princess Collection CD, glad they cut it.

That's probably because it was written for a CD collection called The Little Mermaid and Friends. It's not a cut song from the movie like many in the fandom believe. The Disneynerd wrote: โWed Feb 14, 2024 6:50 amMy least favourite one would be probably "One Dance", it sounds like something out of a mediocre Disney Princess Collection CD, glad they cut it.

Re: Favorite Deleted Song From The Disney Renaissance
I haven't listened to all of the deleted songs, but out of the ones I have heard, "Proud of Your Boy" is easily my favorite. It especially hit home with me after I got fired from my last job (a job I had for eleven years thanks to my mom putting in a good word for me).

Re: Favorite Deleted Song From The Disney Renaissance
In the Middle of the River, Dancing to the Wedding Drum from Pocahontas and the 6/8 Demo from Tarzan. It`s a pity that they couldn`t make the latter melody to work, cause the melody was truly haunting and amazing.
