Re: Disney Books in 2013-2016
I certainly hope that Snow White Archive book you get will be worth the buy, instead of just pictures you already own in another form (even though I buy books that have a lot of the same illustrations I already own, as long as their are some different pictures I don't have, lol).
I have the Sleeping Beauty Big Golden Book, Read-Along Book and CD, and Step Into Reading Step 2 book. I can't wait for the many, many pages book that is in the same line as the other big princess books and will come out this September. But I have to say, for what in my opinion is Disney's most beautiful film...the illustrations don't live up to it. Somehow Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and even Snow White totally lived up to their films in terms of imagery. However, I still reeeally want the book in September. The illustrations still are very beautiful and hey, it's my second favorite Disney film!
As for the Cinderella Cinestory comic, yea, it's quite big, because it has almost every freaking frame from the film! LOL.

They messed up the Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast covers. Aurora wears Blue and Belle wears yellow.

Bradhig, it's perfectly fine for Aurora to wear her gray peasant dress on her book's cover and Belle to wear her blue villager dress on her book's cover.
You know what's really weird? The Cinderella Cinestory comics with Collector's Edition Hardcover and Retro covers were supposed to come out like two days ago, but the covers haven't been shown yet! And on Amazon it says they are still for Pre-order, like they aren't out yet, even though the date they come out is still the same! Also, I don't know about all of them, but at least the Collector's Edition Hardcover and Retro Edition covers for The Little Mermaid and The Lion King and maybe others have covers shown but they say the cover art may not be final. WTF?!

I noticed that, too. It was kinda weird that they don't have a cover art to show us yet.

WOAH! I just compared the stepsisters dress-destroying scene in the Cinderella Cinestory book to the web site Disney Screencaps. I also checked one of the pumpkin-to-coach screencaps. It seems they just took the screencaps from that site to put in the comic! Instead of picking out the pictures (and for that matter, the best, most suitable pictures) on their own, they're just relying on that site!
Re: Disney Books in 2013-2016
I received Disney Villains: Delightfully Evil - The Creation, The Inspiration, The Fascination yesterday. It's a beautiful book with a very neat design, but the actual contents are severely lacking; basically, it doesn't delve much into the whole "creation, inspiration, fascination" aspect of its title. It just sorts the villains into categories, and then lists them one by one with some fun little tidbits on the side, most of which you probably already knew. It also covers Pixar villains, some of which are given more space than actual Disney villains. And some of the villainous characters aren't even given a picture, like Joanna for instance.

Cool! I'm very interested in that book, in particular. Thanks for the info.

I added this book to my Amazon Wish List based on a positive review over at LaughingPlace.com... hmmm. Would you say that there is a lot of concept art in it?Mooky wrote:I received Disney Villains: Delightfully Evil - The Creation, The Inspiration, The Fascination yesterday. Well, each villain has a page (or two at the most) containing some general info about their movie/voice talent, a short paragraph about them and some art, either in concept art form or as a final film frame, though some villains have both. There is some concept art I don't recall seeing on home media releases. Just to give you a general idea, I took several pics (too big to post, so just links):

Thanks for posting. I love the concept art for the Horned King. I've never seen most of that before.

Who else is enjoying the Gravity Falls Journal 3 book!?
So accurate to one on the show and the book flap and the real cover covering it...genius!
I've been sometimes reading it in the characters voices.

Yep, Hans is in there too. The book covers all the villains up to the ones in Zootopia. Here's Hans' page:Disney Duster wrote:Mooky, is Hans in that Disney Villains book? I'd love to see any art of him!!!
