Cool, I'll have to check that one out too. The only reason the other one caught my eye was because I was already familiar with the recording.Sotiris wrote:They've done the same thing for "I Tawt I Taw a Puddy Tat".enigmawing wrote:What makes Daffy's Rhapsody so awesome is that they used a 1950's track off a children's album recorded by Mel Blanc

They did an amazing job translating the old style to CGI! I wish Disney was that good at this, if they insist on using CGI, I mean. Anyway, for those who don't know, you can always save YouTube vids using keepvid.com.

Was in the flagship Disney Store today on Oxford Street, and people are still going nuts over this movie. And, just as Disney wanted, it was girls and boys. Which in fact was brilliant to see.
Something about this movie obviously touched peoples hearts, and it has stuck. Wonder what the magic ingredient was for this movie over other recent Disneys ?

Even though this is in German the lady who plays Mother Gothel is fantastic! Her facial experiences and look are exactly the same to that of the original. I'm gobsmacked.

Well...I'd say it's because it was the closest to a classic fairy tale. The Princess and the Frog was not. Enchanted was not. And all the others were completely different things.atlanticaunderthesea wrote:Was in the flagship Disney Store today on Oxford Street, and people are still going nuts over this movie. No one listened to me when I was saying the reason Disney wasn't doing well was because they weren't being themselves. Now it seems that except for the title (and the two lead's character backgrounds), them going back to that, and being successful, proves I was right.
And I am very glad to hear boys likes this movie so much.

Wow, thanks for posting, I really liked it even though it's in cgi. It got the feel and vibe of all the classic episodes of Sylvester and Tweety. This is a testament to that the medium doesn't matter so as long as you can tell an engaging story and capture the vibe/experience. The animation on it was just gorgeous, we don't get a lot of character movement like this in cgi.Sotiris wrote:Here; watch it before it gets deleted.enigmawing wrote:Cool, I'll have to check that one out too.

Pia Douwes is phenomenal. No one understand musical theater in Holland like she does. She owns the role. She always does.
You can see how well she paid attention to the movie to get the facial expressions right. The talent and dedication to the craft remains unmatched by anyone in the musical community outside of NY and London. She can easily be placed alongside the great Broadway veterans.
And of course the Dutch voice for Pocahontas. Her Colors of the Wind is the best of the many international dubs.

You're the person who never stopped nitpicking Tangled, but because you approve of some of it and it's a success, *you* are right? I think this shows despite your criticisms, the film's success and popularity prove that you were wrong. The reason Tangled is a success isn't because they were faithful to the original fairy tale; you have said yourself that it isn't completely faithful and has more than just a few changes. Do you think the fans of the movie like it because they read the source material and wanted it to be the same in the movie?Disney Duster wrote:No one listened to me when I was saying the reason Disney wasn't doing well was because they weren't being themselves. I totally agree she is extraordinary! It's like looking at a real life Gothel. The dedication to perfecting the role and her traditionalism to the character is outstandingPatrickvD wrote:Pia Douwes is phenomenal. Yes but still Enchanted was a great hit for Disney and I expect if Enchanted wasn't a hit. We wouldn't have got Princess and the Frog/ Tangled or even Frozen! I think it's nice that those movies had there own twistsDisney Duster wrote: The Princess and the Frog was a twist/modern fairy tale, Enchanted was, well, what it was.

Didn't you basically rewrite the film in another thread to "make it more Disney" or something along those lines? You complained incessantly about Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, as well as about Mother Gothel not being a witch or not using magic so personally I don't see how you right all along.Disney Duster wrote:No one listened to me when I was saying the reason Disney wasn't doing well was because they weren't being themselves. I agree. I know there's a few people on the forum who won't agree with me here but I really enjoyed Princess and the Frog and thought it deserved to do a lot better than it actually did.DisneyDude2010 wrote:We wouldn't have got Princess and the Frog/ Tangled or even Frozen! I was only saying I was right about Disney becoming more classic fairy tale = success. They didn't do it to their old Disney standards (the kind I wrote my version like), but once they got closer than they had in quite a few years, boom, success.
I was fine with the idea of characters from past times coming into the modern world in Enchanted, I was fine with a new original story that had to do with frogs and princesses, and I was fine with them paving the way, you're right, they did. I was just saying those were not nearly as successful.

I would agree that Tangled's setting probably was a factor in its success compared to that of The Princess and the Frog. As far as the majority of the general public is concerned, an enchanted fairytale kingdom is a much more appealing setting than 1920s New Orleans.
As for Enchanted, I think the reason that it really faded from view (as far as marketing and merchandise availability is concerned, anyway) was mainly due to Disney not wanting to pay constant royalties to Amy Adams (hence why Giselle never made it into the Princess line).
