This is morbidly coincidental, but I was just watching Spongbob: Truth or Square yesterday (well, a review), and there's a Robin Williams cameo where after someone kidnaps him he says, "I know what this place is. This is where careers go to DIE!"

Rest in peace, dear Mr. Williams.

He's been fighting depression for a while and it was suicide.

I was lucky enough to see him do a comedy tour a few years ago in Saint Louis. He was one of my favorite comedians and this news brings me much sadness and has totally got me bummed out. I'm actually frustrated that he killed himself and pissed about it. I guess Night at The Museum 3 will be his final film?

"But oh, to be free. Not to have to go "Poof! What do you need, "Poof! What do you need, Poof! What do you need?". To be my own master. Such a thing would be greater than all the magic and all the treasures in all the world. But what am I talking about? Let's get real here, that's never gonna happen. Genie, wake up and smell the hummus."

Rest in peace, Mr. Williams.

Yeah, its all interesting how with Mr.Williams' passing we all think of the genie instantly. I can't blame anyone the Genies has got to be one of the most fun roles he has ever played. I feel a lot of us have lost someone who was near and dear to our childhood.

I just came online and saw this the front news. I feel so sorry for him, his family, his friends, and his fans. I know depression is a very hard thing to fight. :(

Rest in peace.

That's too bad. I know that he was having financial troubles due to divorces. That's got to suck... I see that he is going to be in Night at the Museum 3 and he was going to do a Mrs. Doubtfire 2, so that would have helped his financial woes. There must have been more to it. Either way, it's very sad for his family, friends and many fans. :(

I'm not really supposed to be here anymore since I was quietly leaving this forum behind, but I saw the news and I just have to say something about it. I may not have watched or seen a lot of Robin's films, but he was obviously a very funny man and a great talent like him is going to be deeply missed now. Like a lot of people here my deepest childhood connection with him was voicing The Genie in Aladdin, a character he made so fun and entertaining (though I do think that carried over even when it was Dan Castellaneta playing the part) that Genie has still been one of my most favorite Disney characters of all time, so his unexpected death certainly hits me on a personal level.

It's also very sad to think that it may have happened because of depression and suicide (coincidentally, the voice actor for Mozenrath from the Aladdin TV series also died from suicide), and in a way it's things like this that remind me why I should still care for others despite any kind of differences. I know by now that nobody here should have any reason to like me after everything that's happened between me and this forum, but if it was anyone else here that went through something like this, I would still feel sorry for them.

R.I.P. Robin Williams. Thank you for the laughs.

For all the wonderful roles he did, he'll always be the Genie from Aladdin to me. It was such a perfect role.

RIP, Robin Williams.

This is a poem I wrote on deviantart and sharing it here

A Friend Like You

A final wish
One he regrets
For you must be careful
What you wish for.

Back into the lamp
Vanishing in blue mist
No matter how hard we wish
This genie isn't coming back.

A talented comedian
Who cracked jokes
Inspired those he met
Changed lives down the road.

An amazing actor
That rocked films
Made us jump for joy
Laugh at his cross-dress
When he became a nanny.

Brought joy and laughter
That brightened the world
Like a lightbulb in a dim room
Shining brighter than the rest.

He made us laugh
Made us cry
Never should
Of said goodbye.

You shall be missed
Here on planet Earth
Yet your star shines bright
For the world at night.

Shine bright
Dear knight
Cherished friend
May you be at peace.

Never had we
Had a friend
Like you
To change lives
With your laughter.

A great actor, who could do both comedy and drama. Never forgot that scene in "Good Will Hunting", when he grabbed Matt Damon's throat, and it was definitely not for laughs, and showing that he can handle serious roles.

Of course, I definitely loved him as Genie as well.
